Tom Brady has had one hell of a career. He’s won six Super Bowls, three MVP awards, and been to the Pro Bowl 14 times during his 20 year stint as a QB in the NFL. Even at age 43 he shows no signs of slowing down any time soon.
How exactly has TB been able to maintain such longevity in the NFL? Good teammates definitely help. So does having good coaches. But we can’t help but think TB’s bonkers diet has played a role too.
If you’re looking to get a little bit of Brady magic in your life , we’ve compiled some of the most weirdest tips and tricks from the NFL star’s infamous TB12 diet.
Think you have what it takes to try the Tom Brady diet?
1. Ease up on the tomatoes!
If Tom Brady eats a tomato he will absolutely puke. Well probably not. But according to the QBs personal chef, tomatoes are not an anti-inflammatory food so TB stays away from them. “Tomatoes trickle in every now and then, but just maybe once a month. I’m very cautious about tomatoes. They cause inflammation,” says Brady’s personal chef Allen Campbell.
Maybe you should too if you are trying to keep your joints from cracking and popping all the time when you walk up the stairs. Good lord.
2. Fewer Fruits
TB apparently does not mess with fruit. He might have a banana from time to time in a smoothie, but generally he does not imbibe nature’s candy. Good news for you because you probably already don’t eat fruit that often anyway. No, Ben & Jerry’s Cherry Garcia doesn’t count as fruit.
3. Drink exactly 20 ounces of water with electrolytes first thing in the morning
Very specific, but fairly simple. No coffee in the morning. Just electrolyte enhanced water. Think you can handle that? If not, well then you’d be hard pressed to call yourself a TB12 Diet devotee.
4. Be bougie and only use Himalayan pink salt
If you want to piss off your family by being incredibly uppity about something as simple as salt, then definitely abide by this TB rule. Is there really that much of a difference between regular salt and Himalayan salt? Apparently there, according to Tom’s weird palette.
5. No eggplant parm
TB has a lot of quirky restrictions in his diet. Something as seemingly harmless as an eggplant is off limits. Again, he believes that they cause inflammation. Sorry Italian food lovers. If you want to be like Tom, you can’t eat eggplant parm.
6. You can use olive oil to style your hair but not when cooking
Tom Brady’s personal chef does not cook with olive oil. EVER! Guess you’ll have to use all of that leftover olive oil you use to cook for something else. Like a nice slicked back hairdo.
7. Say a prayer before each meal
Okay we just made this one up. We have no idea if Tom Brady says grace before each meal. Our advice: you better pray if you think you are ever going to be able to keep up with the TB12 diet.
