Adam Lambert Does a Striking Cher Impression as He Performs a Hilarious Version of ‘The Muffin Man'

American singer and songwriter Adam Lambert has been delivering pop hits for almost two decades now but you might not have seen him in this fascinating new avatar. The If I Had You hitmaker recently made an appearance on the April 17, 2023 episode of That’s My Jam, a musical show hosted by Jimmy Fallon. Lambert, just like the fellow guests on the show, was presented with an interesting challenge. He had to perform a rendition of The Muffin Man but to the tune of Cher’s 1998 classic song, Believe.
According to PEOPLE, the variety contest series also had a bunch of different musical challenges that the celebrity guests had to face. 41-year-old Lambert was asked to spin the Wheel of Musical Impressions and based on the results, he was challenged to perform the famous nursery rhyme while doing an impression of Cher. "Do you have a Cher in you?" Kimmel asked Lambert while snickering.

"I got it. I got it," Lambert replied confidently. As he approached the microphone and belted out the song, fellow guests Chloe Bailey, Halle Bailey and Simu Liu watched him and clapped and cheered in the support of the singer. "How do you make that good?" Fallon asked after Lambert finished his performance. "Cher will be very proud." The Whataya Want From Me singer isn’t new to paying tribute to the veteran songstress. He previously performed a slowed version of the same song at the 41st Annual Kennedy Center Honors in 2018, where the icon was honored.

But the difference between his two performances is that in the version at the ceremony, Lambert’s rendition sounded more like a ballad that turned into a club anthem. It even moved Cher to tears as the camera captured her wiping her eyes at the end of Lambert’s performance. The version on the musical show got people laughing at how skillfully the singer turned a nursery rhyme into a pop R&B track into a soulful and hip number. We can expect nothing less from a seasoned and charismatic performer like Lambert.
It was a total honor @Cher!!!! You’re a goddess! https://t.co/Pvp2U1m6y3

Being a former American Idol contestant, the singer did not stop his ascent in the music industry after he was eliminated from the talent show. Lambert has recently dropped his brand new album titled High Drama which was released in February 2023. The album contains Lambert singing cover of Lana Del Rey's West Coast, Bonnie Tyler's Holding Out for a Hero, Sia's Chandelier and Billie Eilish's Getting Older, displaying his powerhouse vocals. Lambert has also been collaborating with the active members of the legendary rock band Queen and is currently preparing to embark on The Rhapsody Tour with the band. "The audience is definitely the battery, for me," he told the outlet. "To see these wonderful people that are singing along with you and having the time of their lives, it charges you. It gives you a lot of fuel to get out there and push and keep giving them more and more. It's sort of addicting." We look forward to Lambert’s future musical ventures and wish to see him impersonating other iconic singers flawlessly as well.
