Artificial Intelligence can currently outperform humans in a small number of specific tasks but it is anticipated that in the future, AI will be able to surpass humans in all cognitive activities. Without a doubt, it will have positive and negative implications. AI is now widely used to manipulate or generate photos and videos for various purposes. It has advanced so much in the past few years that now we can even create commercials using text prompts but the end results might not be pleasing for the audience. In fact, it might just induce nightmares or make us feel an uncanny valley moment.

When you click on a recent video from the Instagram page of @privateislandtv which is a production company based in London, you will definitely feel the uneasiness seep in. Halfway into the video, we realize the humans featured in the suspicious commercial are not humans at all. The caption of the video is thoroughly confusing: "SYNTHETIC SUMMER. BYO BOTS. No real people are featured in this video. You can't fight the future - but you can probably drink it."

The commercial is supposed to show backyard party vibes as the guest exchange drinks is absolutely bizarre when you look closely at the lack of details on screen. The weird-looking people in the video talk to floating cans of beer. There are some noticeable glitches in a few scenes and everyone has an absurd number of fingers on their hands. Some AI-generated humans have weirdly shaped mouths and disorienting glances as well. Any graphic designer or tech aficionado can easily tell that this commercial indeed doesn't feature any humans. But you can be a regular netizen as well and still notice the creepy anomalies in the video.

As the nightmare video spread across social media sites, people had some interesting reactions to it. @Sol_Loser_ on Twitter wrote: "I love how it gets progressively more insane throughout. And the more times you watch it, the worse it gets. It's like a feedback loop of mind-warping comedy wrapped in an ugly sweater of madness." Another person remarked that the video started off fine but then everything went "off the rails."

According to TODAY, Chris Boyle, the co-founder of Private Island, which has created ads for Nike, Adobe and Fifa starring David Beckham, says his company is well-known for creating unusual commercials for plenty of famous brands. “Generally, our work is mixed media, combining live-action and animation, so using AI tools seems like a natural evolution,” Boyle told the outlet over an email. “We’ve been investigating generative image for the last 12 months — exploring new ways of working and new mediums of visuals powered by Machine Learning.” “That’s where a lot of the weirdness comes from as the process tries to extrapolate what that would look like,” he added.

Another AI-generated pizza commercial titled Pepperoni Hug Spot went viral on the internet a while ago, featuring a series of unreal humans and it was nothing short of a creep-fest. After watching these petrifying commercials, we wonder what else AI will be capable of in the future. Guess we just have to wait and watch the horror show unfold over time.
