Many believe that AI or artificial intelligence is the future of tech development. AI has been around for a while, available to the public for various purposes but with the recent rise of AI-generated images courtesy of programs like "Midjourney," "Dall-E" and "Stable Diffusion," it has been getting increasingly hard to tell the difference between fantasy and reality. AI image creators have been dominating social media platforms and NFT sales with their vibrant and complex images which challenge real human artists and their livelihoods.

So in order to test what else AI images can get away with, two anonymous computer science students have created a pretty brunette named Claudia. In the u/Cl4ud14_ Reddit profile of the utterly realistic-looking 19-year-old girl, there are a bunch of NSFW posts and racy pictures and her bio reads that she sells them too. This profile seems like the perfect bait for men who are looking forward to splurging their money in exchange for Claudia's spicey pictures.

Claudia’s straight black bangs, giant blue-green eyes and just the socially appropriate amount of cleavage sticking out of her grey tank top are the perfect attention grabbers. But it didn't take the netizens long to spot something odd in her pictures. Upon closer inspection, many netizens figured out that Claudia isn't a real human but an AI-generated image who looks realistic enough to catfish any unsuspecting person. 

Among tons of compliments that called the fake Claudia pretty and beautiful, there was one person who let the cat out of the bag. A Reddit user u/MeysterA wrote: "For those who aren't aware I'm going to kill your fantasy. This is literally an AI creation, if you've worked with AI image models and have made your own models long enough, you can 10000% tell. Sorry to ruin the surprise I guess. Whatever you're using for your prompts try adding blemishes and imperfections, this looks too processed. This is honestly a great use case to see if AI can sell or would go unnoticed. It did."

According to Rolling Stone, the creators of the AI Claudia have revealed that they have made around $100 by selling her nude pictures to Reddit users who believed that she is a real girl. “You could say this whole account is just a test to see if you can fool people with AI pictures,” the creators of Claudia revealed as per the outlet. “You could compare it to the Vtubers, they create their own characters and play as an entirely different person. We honestly didn’t think it would get this much traction.”

Well, Claudia is by no means the first or last fictional adult content creator to be generated via rapidly evolving artificial intelligence. Previously a picture of Pope Francis wearing a Balenciaga jacket puzzled millions of netizens who thought it was real. But the rise of AI has prompted a bunch of ethical questions and concerns. AI image generators mostly use a combination of art pieces from several artists or faces of real people to produce a whole new picture without the consent of the artists or individuals whose pictures were used.
