While the world awaits grander changes that Artificial Intelligence will deliver, people have found a more entertaining purpose for AI tools because why not. Many AI geeks, technical experts and artists are re-imagining everyone's favorite actors and movies as AI. And now, AI artists are giving animated shows a makeover as vintage sitcoms.

The technology is being used in all sorts of fun and creative ways. For instance, AI has given us hilarious and highly-impressive trailers of already existing blockbusters like Star Wars and Lord of the Rings. Not just movies, AI gave the Pope a makeover as a fashion icon in a Balenciaga jacket. LOL. Also, the hyper-realistic images of Trump running away from the police left people in hysterics. And now, the internet is laughing at the AI-imagined recreation of people's favorite animated series, Futurama, re-done in a 1980s style. The fans loved the AI version; some laughed while others found them eerie.

The creation is a successful attempt to give people deep nostalgia as it imagined the mind-blowing backdrop of the 1980s. The video re-created famous characters like Philip J. Fry and Professor Farnsworth in a nearly perfect vintage set-up. The YouTube video was shared by Suburban Gardens using the AI art generator Midjourney. So far, the recreation received over 1 million views and thousands of comments. The most fun part was witnessing an animated series in a different setting with completely contrasting times and periods.

The video created is an opening sequence of the show with images spliced together, similar to Full House or Married with Children. The recreation is as hysterical as it is scary. The realistic visuals are brilliantly realistic and make it an eerie experience of what powerful AI is capable of. A YouTub user, @Noah Finegan praised the artist's efforts and commented, "They absolutely nailed the bender look." Another fan, @Kevin M joked, "They didn't have to make Hermes so damn cool." Haha! The representation of these iconic characters is picturesque, to put it mildly.

The original characters had some identity specifics in terms of their physical appearance. For instance, Fry's iconic quiff has been replaced with a polished and dapper hairdo while Leela's one-eye look has been re-imagined, too. One YouTube fan, @The Xjade quipped, "They should give Leela an eyepatch." Bender, (the robot) also seemed to sport a bedazzled denim look while sitting on the sofa, chugging his beer at the Planet Express building. A fan, @desis dosis joked, "I can totally see the writers always coming up with ridiculous reasons for Bender why he never leaves the couch." Though most fans were in awe of the recreation, some found it weird. The character render of the alien, Dr. Zoidberg gave people eerie feelings. The crustacean-like creature donned a suit similar to 80s sci-fi B-movies. It creeped out a fan, @Vincent Pendergast who wrote, "It's surreal to feel nostalgia for a show that never existed."

@Umey said, "Okay, AI is actually scaring me now. This is crazy." The YouTube creator who made the video seems to be waiting to one day create AI videos as well. "It's going to be weird when AI progresses to the point where they actually can animate this, especially the live-action." @Jason Sterling Entertainment agreed, "These are so great. It's like getting vintage TV from a parallel universe."
