Bear Breaks Into Woman's Car and Chugs 69 Cans Of Orange Soda | "Never Seen Them Go After Pop"

Most of us would like to sleep in for longer periods of time, most of us crave sugar past midnight and most of us like soda...which proves most of us might be a bear. No, we aren't kidding. A British Columbia woman captured photos and video of a bear paying a late-night visit to her home and raiding 69 cans of soda from her car. Sharon Rosel said her dog woke her up around 3 a.m. at her Earls Cove home and when she looked outside, she saw a bear had shattered one of her car windows and was helping itself to the cans of soda she had bought for her business.
For @aliterative and the intrepid team at the @HelloGarglers and your food section: If the cocaine bear was too extreme, how about a bear that broke into a car to drink 69 cans of pop/soda? Somebody wanted to be in the Coke Christmas ads, I guess.https://t.co/oCC8NG38dV

Rosel said she stood on her balcony for an hour and a half, watching as the bear used its teeth to break open the cans and slurp the contents while making a sweet mess of her car's interior. She claimed the bear began with orange soda, progressed through cola and root beer and finally came to a halt when he reached the diet soda. She told CBC, "He was drinking massive amounts of soda." Rosel said she had 72 cans of soda in total in the car and the bear drank 69. She claimed she tried throwing cold water at the bear from her balcony but was unsuccessful. She then tried to persuade him by explaining that she needed her car to get to work the next morning. She claims the bear ripped the leather interior of the car, broke the window roller handle by standing on it and spilled soda all over the place, including inside the gear shifter.
"Then I tried psyching him out by telling him I was a bear hunter. That didn't do anything either so I had to stand by and just watch him devour my car," said Rosel. "Of course, white leather interior goes really good with orange Crush," Rosel said sarcastically, noting that the bear knocked over a pack of paper towels but did not think to use them to clean up the mess. She is hoping that her insurance will cover some of the costs. Rosel who owns a food truck claims she bought the soda for her business the night before. She says she deals with bears on a daily basis because she lives in a remote area and is normally hyper-vigilant and careful not to leave food in her vehicle. But she had no idea the bear would be drawn to soda. "I've been around bears since I was knee-high to a grasshopper and I have never seen them go after pop," she added.
According to the Coast Reporter, the bear reappeared the next night. The antics of the black bear were captured on a security camera. During the bear's second visit, her dog managed to scare it away. "I don't want to do anything that compromises the bears. I know they'll move on if they don't find a food source. Do not underestimate their sense of smell," Rosel advises others. "We have to be bear aware. We have to live with them and bears have memories." We hope bears with a sweet tooth are given free soda treats from time to time so they don't break into cars. (Don't know if it's good for their health though.)
