Cupcakes are not just a human favorite delicacy but bears, too, have a sweet tooth, and take pleasure in devouring a box full of mouth-watering cupcakes. Except that when a black bear visits a bakery, it becomes a piece of news. LOL.

This one Connecticut bakery welcomed a "distinct" hungry guest, which scared the hell out of people. However, the guest meant no harm, it was just hungry and in the mood to indulge in some sweets, well, 60, to be precise. Haha! On Wednesday, May 24, 2023, a black bear visited Taste by Spellbound, a bakery and coffee shop only to ruin their several dozen cupcakes and other baked goods. The bakery has three more joints across the state. The unexpected visitor paid no heed to its "impactful" presence and ambled away after satisfying itself. 

The bakery shared the video incident on Facebook captured by a neighborhood business's security camera. The original post read, "We have a loading garage in the back of our Avon shop for our Transit. Maureen was loading it with the last items before I was to leave. All of a sudden, we hear her screaming bloody murder and then yelling, 'There's a bear in the garage.'" The bear wandered around the open garage door before barging into the bakery. The bakery further wrote, "The bear then moved one of our fridges in front of the door. The bear destroyed 60 cupcakes and a bunch of coconut cake." It was one starving bear. 

A follow-up post by the bakery had a video of the bear entering the eatery to grab some sweet delicacies. The 35-second clip showed the bear lingering around the garage area and then dragging a box of cupcakes out of the garage with several desserts strewn across the floor and pavement. Master move. LOL. After gobbling up the sweets, a car standing nearby scared the bear away from the place and in the meantime, the bakery closed its doors. After some time, the bear fled the scene. It must have been nap time for the furry animal after a heavy meal. 

Facebook users were in stitches and hilarious comments soon poured in. @Rebecca Kriner wrote, "I mean- he's got good taste." Another user, @Cheryl DeRocher Kasek Gosselin, commented, "It must have been a birthday bear enjoying some cupcakes! Glad no one got hurt." Hilarious! @Ann Westerman quipped, "Apparently, the bear has a discerning palate." A Facebook user, @Mary Kate Labenski joked, "What a big baby!!! Did he at least leave a tip?" The bakery claims in another follow-up post that no bear was harmed. 

The post read, "A few facts: No bears will be harmed. They have not hurt anyone and will be totally ok. No need to worry! They are more scared of us than us of them. We all have had a good laugh about it at this point and think the bears are cute." We second that. The state environmental agency says, "1,000 to 1,200 black bears live in Connecticut, with sightings last year in 158 of the state's 169 towns and cities," per The Guardian.
