Ben Affleck Pokes Fun at His 'Sad Affleck' Meme Face

We might have observed actor Ben Affleck on several instances (on television) and wondered: Is he happy to be where he is at this point in time? Nobody can guess the inner workings of his mind just by looking at his deadpan expression. However, the actor’s blank facial expression in public is just as natural as it can be. The Justice League actor recently appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and finally, discussed becoming a popular source of memes on the internet with his despondent demeanor.
"It did seem like you weren't quite as psyched about the party as everybody else," Kimmel said, bringing up another instance when Affleck and Lopez were at a holiday party in December 2022. Affleck threw his head back and laughed before defending himself and explaining that it's just a "common misconception." "Listen, I have a very unhappy-looking resting face. This is me content," the Argo actor said as his face dropped into a blank expression. "This is me amused," he added, making a similar, serious-looking gesture. "That’s how God made me. You don’t have to punish me for it." Indeed, one can't do much to their natural appearance without completely altering one's original face with plastic surgery and Affleck's sad and sulky resting face is how God (or nature) made him.

We suspect Affleck might have come across internet trolls that mercilessly pointed out how miserable Affleck looked at the Grammy Awards held on February 5, 2023, per Page Six. Affleck looked less than thrilled every time the cameras cut to him and his wife, Jennifer Lopez at the award ceremony.
@SpencerAlthouse tweeted joking about the footage of Affleck and J. Lo and wrote: "However bad of a day you’re having, I promise you’re not as miserable as Ben Affleck at the Grammys right now." Even a body language expert told Page Six that the “exchange between Affleck and Lopez was reproachful.” However, J. Lo posted a video on her Instagram, clearing all the absurd rumors about her "unhappy husband" and captioned the video: "Always the best time with my love, my husband."
Well, Lopez has not shied away from making fun of her husband's resting face either. She had previously shared the trailer of Affleck's upcoming directorial venture titled Air which is all set to release on April 5, 2023. The thumbnail of the video on her Instagram page had a shot of Affleck with his solemn look as the caption read: "MY HUSBAND’S HAPPY FACE."

Perhaps his expression is the aftereffect of playing the iconic role of Batman where he had to look brooding and grumpy or perhaps we were not observant enough and Affleck has been like this forever. Whatever may be the true story behind his "unhappy-looking resting face," it has not stopped the Oscar winner from making waves in Hollywood so far.
