Ben Affleck Mocks Buddy Matt Damon for Gloating About Their 'Competitive' Celeb Wordle Group | “Alright, Will Hunting”

Best friends roasting each other is pure gold. One such moment was seen on The Kelly Clarkson Show on April 3, 2023, where Ben Affleck playfully zinged Matt Damon for discussing his Wordle skills way too much. The Air movie co-stars, who are real-life amigos for over 40 years, had a hilarious 'bestie' moment on the show. Kelly Clarkson asked them about a celebrity Wordle group with Bradley Cooper, Will Arnett and Jason Bateman.
Affleck remained silent for a while and then chimed in saying he had been 'velvet-roped' by Damon for participating in the popular game, now owned by The New York Times. Clarkson asked Affleck, "Okay, well, speaking of competitive, is it true that you are in a Wordle group with Chris's Silver Lining co-star Bradley Cooper?" Affleck quickly replied, "No, I am trying to get into it and I am being velvet-roped by the bouncer here. He is telling me that I gotta get a cooler plus one or something."

The camera then focused on Damon and he perhaps overexplained the whole word game, which made Affleck feel awkward. Damon went with the flow and explained, "So, there's Octordle which is the eight words and then Quordle is the four words and Wordle which is the one word."
Affleck looked blank and hilariously burned as Damon seemed engrossed with his prodigy in the game and added, "So we play all three and you add up your score." And the Gone Girl star just had it and immediately retorted, "All right, Will Hunting," as the audience and Clarkson hysterically laughed. "No, I mean it's very very competitive. Will Arnet is in it, Bradley Cooper, Jason Bateman," Damon continued. Cutting Damon off mid-sentence, Affleck frustratingly said, "And I am not, which is fine. I don't resent."
The Martian star quickly covered up and said, "No, I advised you. You are welcome to join." He also revealed they call it a "Nerdle League." "I was like, you can join the Nerdle League but you might want to get your scores down." But Affleck had no chill when the game was discussed and he appeared quite pissed off with the whole Wordle exchange on the show. He replied, "The truth is, they told me what their scores were. I was like, I can get in, then I did it a couple of times, and I was like, I might need to train," admitting he is pretty bad at the game. The casual jab cracked Clarkson as she admitted, "I love words, but it's hard."
The whole episode was a laugh riot for the audience, and a lot of lovely comments poured in on YouTube. A fan, @Faradilla Ramadhita, wrote, "Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are absolutely friendship goals. We want Ben and Matt to join John Krasinski in a new film together. John Krasinski becomes a producer in this film while Ben and Matt star in this film." Another comment by @Blimie Jay read, "I felt so intrusive watching this casual convo between friends in someone’s living room." @neko samurai commented, "Of course, Ben's the one to head straight to the Urban Dictionary. Try as he might, he can never escape his inner Kevin Smith."
