Ben Affleck Drags Friend Matt Damon Through The Mud, Reveals He's a Horrible Roommate | “I Wouldn't Suggest Living With Him”

Ben Affleck is being candid about his feelings for longtime friend and collaborator, Matt Damon. In the early years of their entertainment careers, Affleck and Damon lived together with Affleck's brother, Casey and he found Damon's cohabitation skills not too good. Affleck admitted to James Corden during The Late Late Show interview that Damon is "a beautiful guy," but added, "I would not suggest living with him."

"Matt's never paid a bill to this day, that I know of," Affleck shared. "We're like, 'Why are the lights not working?', and that's because the utility company needs money to continue to fund our electricity." Damon apparently has super abilities to "block things out." He cannot seem to register "the idea that when you finish with something, it has to be washed or thrown away." Affleck claimed that he and his brother became so tired of "cleaning up" that they decided to force him to help with chores by purposefully not cleaning their flat for two weeks. The outcome of this decision was nightmarish. "We're just gonna wait and see how long he will go before he actually gets up and goes, 'God, I'm covered in garbage,'" Affleck said. However, their plan didn't succeed at all. "Came home one day, me and him [Casey], Matt's there in his shorts and his T-shirt playing the '92 Sega hockey game in the middle of what was the living room, just surrounded by concentric circles of garbage," Affleck continued to explain.
"Pizza boxes … I look down at this sushi thing that was a week and a half old, and there are maggots. And we were like, 'We submit. We submit. You are too good. We cannot beat you,'" he added. "He just was like, 'Hey, what's going on, fellas?'" Affleck stated that living with Damon is why he respects Luciana Barroso, the actor's wife. "There's a place for you in heaven," Affleck stated. Affleck and Damon are no longer roommates but they continue to collaborate. Air, their latest film, which they both star in and which Affleck also directed and produced is currently in theatres.
Their 40-year-long friendship goes way back to the 1980s when they were introduced to each other by their moms. According to a 2007 Parade interview, Affleck first met Damon when they were 8 and 10, respectively, in the early 1980s. They grew up two blocks apart in Cambridge, Massachusetts and shared a passion for baseball and acting. They went on to attend Cambridge Rindge and Latin High School.
