Ben Stiller Jokes That People Confuse Him For Adam Sandler "All the Time"

Speaking with Entertainment Tonight at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, on Sunday, March 19th, 2023, Ben Stiller joked about how people mistake him for Adam Sandler quite often. Sandler, 56 received the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor and Stiller, 57, laughingly said, the two actors often get mistaken for each other all the time Well, we agree that both have some common ground in terms of their respective careers with the best romantic comedy movies and the best comedies under their belt.

"So, just like, in life, it's always like, 'Yo, Sandler!' So we're like sending each other videos of people like going like, 'Hey, Adam, I love you. Thank you," he added. The Severance director showed up to celebrate as Murder Mystery 2 actor won the prize and also praised him for his exceptional comedy skills. That's when he shared the story of goofy mixups.

The two Hollywood honchos hail from the same time—the glorious 90's comedy and are longtime pals. Apart from personal camaraderie, they have also professionally collaborated on several films together like Happy Gilmore (1996),  The Meyerowitz Stories (2017), and Hubie Halloween (2020). But it is surprising for many fans that people find their facial features common to the point of misleading identities. The story gets funnier as Stiller reveals he has made quite a few jokes already in the past about being a lookalike of a famous star.

Still told ET that he believes, "Sandler's true self comes through in his work and who he is, in the sense that it's very honest, and in his comedy and his acting, he reveals himself. And I think people really appreciate that and connect with that." Well, we agree that Sandler has an unmissable screen presence.

The Zoolander actor also says his old buddy is "sensitive and very generous." Stiller added, "He reaches out so much to his fellow actors and friends. He's very supportive." Talking fondly about Sandler, he also shared, "It's just who he is but that's one of the things I love about him." Ever since the two brilliant actors shared screen space in 1996, the comedy legends dote on each other like teenage buddies.

Apart from Stiller, several other Sandler's industry friends and co-stars like Jennifer Aniston, Chris Rock, Luis Guzmán, Drew Barrymore, Rob Schneider, David Spade, Conan O'Brien, Dana Carvey and Judd Apatow graced the event, per Daily Mail. But the love between the comedy icons outshined everything else.

The Hustle actor's 2022 Gotham Awards speech, exclusively written by his teen daughters (as the actor shared), also mentioned Stiller. Sandler's daughters, Sunny, 14, and Sadie, 16, were disappointed that they could not be in attendance for their daddy's award. Calling Sandler a "great human being," in his conversation with ET, Stiller said, "I'm just very proud and happy for Adam. I think it's an amazing honor and he's really deserving because he's an amazingly talented person."
