Unfortunately, what this poor bride had to witness on the day of her wedding is not something a couple can recover from.
It's natural to get cold feet right before your wedding ceremony. After all, it is a life-changing event and the leadup to it can be quite stressful. Questions like "are we meant for each other?", "how long will the relationship last?", "will the ceremony go well?", "will the dress fit well?", and "will the speeches be good?" accompany the big day's excitement.
This could also be when dealbreakers—like finding out your partner is cheating on you or that they're not who they said they are—come out into the open. Although sometimes you can work out such situations, there is no return from some unsavory, last-minute discoveries about your partner. While most people run through their worst-case scenarios in their head before D-Day, one bride had to deal with a situation that even the most overthinking brains couldn't have imagined.
During an episode of The Unfiltered Bride podcast, professional wedding planner Georgie Mitchell told co-host Beth about a jaw-dropping wedding disaster story she'd heard from a makeup artist. In a clip from the podcast shared on Instagram, Mitchell reveals how the makeup artist told her about a wedding where the bride walked in on her husband-to-be being breastfed by his mum. Yikes!
While Mitchell admitted that she herself was not at the wedding and could therefore not vouch for the validity of the story, she had good reason to believe the tale since she'd heard about it from multiple people. "On two occasions I've been told this story, I was not at this wedding, but on two occasions I've been told this, both by makeup artists," she says in the podcast. "We'll call her Jenny. Jenny says to me, 'I did a wedding the other day and you'll never guess what happened."
Mitchell went on to explain that right before the ceremony, the bride needed to use the restroom. "And she (the bride) walked into the toilet, and what she saw is enough to end a wedding," she said, leaving Beth—who owns the company Etiquette Events Styling—to guess the sight that awaited the bride. Beth initially assumed that the groom was cheating on his bride with another woman, before guessing that he might've been taking drugs in the lead-up to the ceremony. Mitchell insisted that something much worse took place that didn't leave any space for reconciliation.
She then revealed: "He was being breastfed by his mum." Yes, you can take a moment to digest that piece of information. "Sorry, WHAT? Why would you marry a man (who still breastfeeds)?" Beth exclaims at her co-host's revelation.
Jumping to the bride's defense, Mitchell replied: "I don't think she knew that was what was happening!"
Finding it impossible to contain her giggles, Beth then asks another question that begged for attention. "Why was his mum producing milk?" she incredulously asks Mitchell to which the wedding planner replies: "She's obviously been doing it continuously to get to that point," The hosts then go on to discuss how the bride must've handled the undoubtedly traumatizing discovery mere minutes before she was supposed to exchange her marital vows. "Everybody is in the room waiting! But you definitely wouldn't kiss the groom..." Mitchell jokes.
Viewers seemed to be just as disgusted and horrified as the host. "I am never getting over this I am SHOOK!!!" wrote @daisyjeffery. "This level of trauma I cant recover from! Sick people and I'm confused," commented @lisalashes22. "Please tell me that's a joke! OMG I feel sick," exclaimed @anastasia_cook_travel.
