City of Kyle All Set to Break World Record by Gathering “Any and All Kyles” at Lake Kyle Park as Part of the Kyle Fair

The list of world records shows us that humans do some of the most bizarre things just to set a world record. From building a toilet paper tower in 30 seconds and putting on the maximum number of socks in 30 seconds to assembling Mr. Potato Head in the shortest time and eating the most Smarties in 60 seconds blindfolded with chopsticks—the world records list has everything. Why should the people (Kyles) of Texas stay behind? Kyle, Texas is celebrating its name by attempting to gather at least 2,326 Kyles in the same location at the same time. The Gathering of Kyles will be held at Lake Kyle Park on May 19-21, 2023 as part of the Kyle Fair A Tex-Travaganza. The event will attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the largest same-name gathering (first name only).
"In order to break this record, we're calling for any and all Kyles. We need tall Kyles, short Kyles, young Kyles, and old Kyles to get close to the record set five years ago," City of Kyle Special Events Manager Claudia Rocha said in a news release. "We're very excited about the upcoming, inaugural Kyle Fair and have high hopes that this event will bring out the Kyles needed to grab a spot in the record books." This will be the City of Kyle’s fourth attempt at breaking the record. In previous years, Kyles has come from as far as Massachusetts to participate. The Kyles' Gathering will take place on Sunday, May 21, 2023, at 4 p.m.
As per the Kyle Fair website, the dress code for Kyles includes: "Cowboy Hat, Sombrero, Cowboy Boots, Leather Jackets with hanging tassels on the sleeve, Sneakers, Long Pants, Short Pants, T-Shirts, Comfy Clothes, Uncomfy Clothes, Cosplay, Historically Accurate Western Apparel, Socks, Flip Flops, Wigs, Bald Caps, A Smile." Things that Kyles aren't supposed to turn up in include: "Storm Clouds, Full Suit of Medieval Armor, Lady Gaga’s Meat Dress, Macaroni Art (Within Reason), A Frown, We Changed Our Mind On The Armor." They were also encouraged to bring: "A Big Appetite, Rhyming Dictionary, Hot Sauce, Uno Reverse Card, The Whole Family, Taste For Adventure."
All eligible Kyles are asked to sign in at the VIP Tent ahead of time, and a group photo will be taken afterward. Every Kyle who attends the Kyle Fair will receive a free Kyle Fair T-shirt of their choice. There is no fee to participate and admission to the Kyle Fair including live music performances is free. The current Guinness World Record was set on July 30, 2017, by Kupreski Kosci in Bosnia and Herzegovina with a total of 2,325 participants named Ivan. The song Moj Ivane by Marko Perkovic Thompson was included in the record attempt. We wish all the Kyles attempting to break this record the very best.
