Dogs can be lovely companions and our greatest cheerleaders in all the mischievous activities we plan. However, sometimes these angels on four legs can innocently cause devious interruptions in our work and no, they absolutely do not feel guilty.
A video on Facebook, uploaded by The Hurtt Twins on January 28, 2023, proves the same. Since being uploaded, it has gained 6.4 million views and 23,000 comments. You might be wondering what's making netizens go crazy over this video. We were too... until we watched it.
According to the post caption, the video features a "lazy dog that naps amidst army drill." The clip shows soldiers marching and playing drums while they try to navigate their way around the napping dog in the sun. Despite the loud music and continuous marching of the boots around it, the lazy dog refuses to break its sleep and move out of the way.
The dog appears to be napping well and even when it wakes up at one point during the drill, it refuses to move an inch and instead decides to simply make good use of its VIP vantage point. Onlookers were definitely amused by the dog's cool indifference.
Although the canine does get up from its slumber for a bit, it walks up to the soldiers and settles down next to them again. The doggo gets a bit startled as the soldiers march back but then decides to resume its glorious nap.
The subtitles on the video say that the noisy army drill took place somewhere in Greece amidst a crowd full of people. One comment under the post reads: "Such a perfect place to nap! Lazy doggo was totally unbothered. Stole the show with his glorious snooze." The soldiers not even attempting to move the dog and being careful while marching also gained adoration.
Viewers on Facebook went gaga over the unbothered dog in the comment section. "The dog be like: who cares... I am happily dreaming about my [girlfriend]," wrote @Moumita Paul. "This is the level of IDGAF I want to be on," commented @Denise Eudoxie. "When a dog is tired they don't care where they are! They just lay down and take a nap, I wish I could do that," wished @Karen Hoffman.
"Yeah, musicians are the best, they just adjust their spacing, so no one steps on him, and keep half an eye on him when he's walking with them, so no one trips," @Sara Ter Beek noted about the careful soldiers. "Enjoying the sun and the music," concluded @Mare Fisher. "That is respect to animals, respect to dogs, no one felt uncomfortable with the dog in the middle of the event (march)... the dog wasn't bothering anyone... that was Amazing !!!!" added @Yendris López Vilches.
In a similar incident from 2019, a lazy dog in Hat Yai city, southern Thailand, refused to move from the middle of the road for an approaching car and had to be carried away. The brown Aspin named Aofsie lazily lifted up her head to see the cars but wouldn't bother moving and would go back to napping, per Yahoo Life.
The stubborn dog was yelled at and poked but it didn't make much difference as all she did was wag her tail. The road was finally cleared after a man wearing a red shirt came in to gently lift her four legs up and dropped her on the sideway.
Well, sleeping dogs will lie, whether we let them or not.
