Drunk Robber Trips and Gets Injured by Sword of the Archangel Statue He Was Planning to Sneak Out With

The 32-year-old alleged robber was found laying injured by the sword of the sculpture at Christ the King Parish in Monterrey.

We’ve heard of how Vlad the Impaler earned his nickname by impaling his enemies on stakes. A recent incident might have you calling archangel St. Michael "the Impaler" as well. In a rather tragic comedy of errors, an alleged thief faced instant karma while trying to steal a statue of St. Michael. According to CNA News, the man—identified as 32-year-old Carlos Alonso—was found laying injured by the sword of the sculpture at Christ the King Parish in Monterrey. The news of this angel figurine keeping it even with the robber comes after the attempted burglary took place during the early hours on January 14, 2023.

This peculiar case came into the light for reasons not related to the theft but the outlandish accident faced by the man. The alleged robber was reportedly drunk when he attempted to break the fence and enter the church during the wee hours. The poor man had no clue he was signing up for a battle with the unknown. The uncanny case of tragedy faced by the drunk burglar has ever since made waves on the internet thanks to its supernatural element. The man allegedly planned to rob the statue of the archangel and was about to wrap the game when he tripped and accidentally fell over the sword of the sculpture.

Things couldn’t get messier as Alonso had a spooky encounter in the church which would give anyone shivers down the spine, as we recall the deadly weeping angels from the series Doctor Who. The injured man wasn’t rescued until some passerby noticed the victim lying there with a serious injury on his neck. One can only imagine what the sight would have been if the man hadn't been rushed to the hospital in time.

If only the man knew what he was messing with and how Michael fought his foes in the Bible, things would have been different. And we are not here preaching the concept of “holier than thou,” but read for yourselves as Revelation 12:7-9 says: "Then war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon. The dragon and his angels also fought, but he could not prevail, and there was no place for them in heaven any longer. So the great dragon was thrown out  —  the ancient serpent, who is called the devil, and Satan, the one who deceives the whole world. He was thrown to earth, and his angels with him."

A depiction straight out of a renaissance painting may have been the scenario but thankfully Alonso survived. Charges of vandalizing the church property and breaking in are being considered over him and the degree of punishment shall be announced once the alleged robber is back on his feet. Meanwhile, the statue of St. Michael the Archangel remains unharmed and back in its rightful position.
