Begley Jr. and Daughter Flaunt Mysterious Card, Keeping Alive Hilarious Oscars Red Carpet Tradition

The internet applauded him for his 'loyal commitment' to environmentalism and in this case, his commute choice to the Oscars venue.

The longtime environmental activist and actor Ed Begley Jr. carried on with his tradition of arriving at the Oscars in a thrifty style, along with his daughter, Hayden Carson Begley. This time, his ride was a subway train. And we are impressed. The 68-year-old veteran Hollywood star and daughter flaunted their subway cards with pride on Sunday, March 12, 2023, at Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.

The internet sang praises for the environmentalist's conscious choices of arriving at the Academy Awards, and we second it. No fancy limo, the daddy-daughter duo cleverly dodged the terrible traffic and hopped on the Metrolink train. "Red Line to the Red Carpet," the 68-year-old Portlandia actor shared in one tweet of himself. "Going to the Oscars by subway." The actor and his daughter had to walk from the nearby metro station to the Oscars as the station under the venue is typically closed for the ceremony, as reported by HuffPost

The veteran actor took to his Twitter handle to share their ride for this season's Awards and wrote, "Taking the subway to the Academy Awards this year with daughter Hayden Begley, just like we did in 2014." And the post created a storm on the internet. And why not?

In a follow-up tweet, the 68-year-old actor applauded his daughter for being a sport in response to a post calling him a "legend" for taking a subway to the venue. He wrote, "My daughter, @HaydenBegley is the real champion. Walking down Hollywood Boulevard in her heels!" She deserves all the praise for it.

The star did not go unnoticed as Tim de la Motte spotted the duo on the train to the Oscars and posted images of the same on his social media accounts like Snapchat and Instagram. He captioned one of his posts, "Ed Begley Jr on the @metrolosangeles on his way to the @Academyawards."

Twitterati went frenzy and declared Begley a real-life legend. A Twitter user, @CalameDiana, wrote, "Begley is a man who walks the talks, literally. I remember years ago when these specialty networks started popping up on cable-he had a show on a focused network where his neighbor-Bill Nye was always competing with who had the smaller footprint-It was informative & funny." @Leah1069, commented, "Bravo Sir! You've been leading the way for decades and I thank you for your loyal commitment!!" And we couldn't agree more.

The veteran environmentalist is famous for his prudent alternatives to arriving on Oscar's red carpet instead of opting for expensive four-wheel drives. In 2020, the actor championed the cause of environmentalism by opting to ride in a solar-charged electric vehicle to the Oscars. He updated his fans on Twitter and wrote, "At the @Oscars2020_ Came in my solar charged EV. Rachelle wasn't up for the subway. Next year!"

Back in 2015, the tradition saw Mr. Begley riding his bike to the award function, all decked up in a suit and a bow tie. He tweeted, "Never mind the rain. I'm riding my bike to the @TheAcademy Awards. Pardon the helmet hair."
