“Literally a Bedsheet:” Florence Pugh’s Oscar Dress Is Getting Trolled On the Internet

It seems like this year's Oscar has become the most popular source for memes and jokes. Much respect for the prestigious award ceremony but somehow our celebrities and their unusual antics at the Oscars attract the attention of trolls and people on the internet end up being bombarded with the strangest images. Florence Pugh is no exception. Her unique Valentino gown inspired the first Oscar meme of the night, and surprisingly, people have the same joke but with their own twist of humor, and the internet is abuzz with entertainment. The 27-year-old actor's ruffled gown gave birth to some of the best memes, and everyone's joined the same bandwagon.

On Sunday, March 12, 2023, the British actor arrived at Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles donning a beige-colored strapless taffeta gown by the designer brand Valentino. Her look was complimented by a flowing train with ruffled sleeves, black short-shorts, and platform heels. The Don't Worry Darling star was also adorned with Tiffany and Co jewelry. Talking to E! News from the red carpet, Pugh described her look as "a bit of romantic, a bit of punk." While she rocked the look with her confidence and charm, the bold fashion choice sparked some amusing memes. Many stated that her Oscar look is similar to "bedsheets," or rather a "bunch of wrinkled duvets." LOL!!
The netizens meme-d the hell out of her dress, drawing similarities with bedsheets and curtains. And the hilarious jokes are a worthy ride to take. One Twitter user, @jandjsalmon, wrote, "Looks like my duvet." Another user, @KittyLynnNYC, commented, "Elsewhere in the comments, someone said it looked like a dirty comforter. That's all I can see now because that assessment was 100% spot on."

A tweet by@Arschloch90210 read, "Draped her comforter over her bike shorts. No. Just no." @StephenOssola also jokingly said, "Me going downstairs and joining my family Christmas morning in my duvet."

A tweet by @mybabyfungus has a rather dirty comparison of Pugh's oversized dress. She wrote, "Love her, but this looks like the tissue paper you get with a new pair of shoes." The Little Women star is known for her bold fashion choices, and throughout her career, she has been subject to some kind of body shaming or trolling for her unapologetically daring outfits. Last year, she was at the receiving end of harsh criticism as she wore a sheer pink Valentino gown that revealed her nipples.

In a recent interview with Vogue, the Midsommar actor recalled her horrible experiences with body shamers and how she takes them head on. "I have never been scared of what’s underneath the fabric," she said. "If I am happy in it, then I am gonna wear it. Of course, I don't want to offend people, but I think my point is: How can my nipples offend you that much?"

While art and fashion are subjective, we cannot help but wonder how this one time, internet users saw the same joke in her dress and unanimously roasted the actor.
