Death is a topic that many people feel uncomfortable discussing but one funeral firm is hoping to change that by offering custom-made coffins that reflect the unique personalities and interests of the deceased. Go As You Please, a funeral service company with branches in the north-east of England and in Edinburgh, Scotland believes that no ideas are off limits when it comes to celebrating life and making a difficult day a little lighter. Per Sky News, the coffins designed by Go As You Please are far from traditional. They include a range of unconventional options such as a casket designed to resemble a Greggs sausage roll, the iconic Doctor Who TARDIS, a pint of Tennent's Lager, a bottle of Bell's whisky and references to popular culture like Star Wars, Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead, Harry Potter and Only Fools and Horses. These unique designs aim to spark ideas and ignite conversations about the lives of the deceased.

Scott Purvis, the general manager at Go As You Please, emphasizes that each coffin is built to meet the specific needs and desires of the individual customer. The company takes the time to have honest conversations with people while they are still alive to ensure that their funeral arrangements truly reflect their personalities and wishes. This approach not only breaks the taboo of discussing death but also allows individuals to have a say in how they are remembered.

The coffins created by Go As You Please go beyond mere novelty. They are about celebrating individuality and personalizing the farewell experience. The company actively encourages families to design their own coffins and even get involved in the construction process. This level of involvement can be healing and cathartic, bringing families together to honor their loved ones in a meaningful way. The firm's branch windows proudly and respectfully display these unique coffin designs. These displays challenge the traditional notions of funeral ceremonies and open up a world of creativity and personalization.

General manager Murdo Chambers, 49, disclosed that people often choose to have the face of their loved one on the coffin. He told The Scottish Sun Online: "It is quite common for family members to request an image of their loved one on the coffin." Chambers continued: "We encourage personal choice as much as possible - let's face it, most folks don't think along the lines of what they could do, they go to a funeral director still thinking they are getting told what needs to be done." The most unusual coffin they had to prepare recently was a pink coffin themed on Harry Potter. "The family had their mum photoshopped onto a broomstick to play Quidditch," Chambers shared.

Radical and fun funerals planned by the deceased or their family members are surely the best way to tribute the late person and celebrate their life. A Bristol woman, Sandie Wood surprised her mourners with a flash mob dance to the classic Another One Bites the Dust at her funeral. Wood also made her funeral memorable with a custom coffin made for her, lined with her favorite shoes. It came in on a horse-drawn hearse but late because Wood never came on time. Wood had the coffin pre-designed in a purple shade with ornamentation and a special message, "Going out in style."
