Highschoolers Sneakily Camp Overnight in Principal’s Home in Epic Prank | “They Were in Every Corner like Sardines”

When you pull a prank on your high school principal, it could only go two ways—either you are going to face fury-filled consequences or a sweet reaction. Nonetheless, most of us wouldn't dare to even think about pranking our teachers, much less the principal. However, this principal had students who successfully pulled a prank on her when she was resting at home and thought of simply grabbing a cup of early-morning coffee. Unbeknownst to her, the head of a boarding school hosted more than 70 overnight guests at her on-campus home. The epic prank was planned by the graduating class at St. Andrews School in Middletown, Delaware. Joy McGrath, dressed in a bathrobe and yellow Crocs, walks into her kitchen at 6 a.m. and discovers a swarm of students camped out on her floor in a now-viral Instagram video. McGrath's jaw drops and she flees the room.
McGrath reappears moments later, taking in the entire scene. There are students all over the place. Under the table, walking out of a room, sleeping in her drawing room, everywhere. The video is captioned, "It's senior prank season and boy did the Class of 2023 get Ms. McGrath good. Last night, the ENTIRE senior class snuck into her house at 1 AM and bedded down for a good night’s sleep all over the first floor of her residence. No, she didn’t wake up! Watch to see the big reveal when Ms. McGrath came down for her morning coffee at 6 a.m." "Good morning, little bunnies!" McGrath sportingly says in the clip as the class of 2023 erupts into laughter.
"I was in shock. They were in every possible corner like sardines," McGrath shared with TODAY. "It took me a second to realize, 'This is a senior prank!'" "I can sleep through anything," McGrath said. McGrath, who graduated from St. Andrews in 1992, couldn't recall her own senior prank. "I slept through that one, too!" she justified. McGrath's husband, Ty Jones was in on the joke as well, leaving the front door unlocked so they could sneak in at 1 a.m. Before heading back to their dorms, the seniors had breakfast with McGrath and her husband, which included doughnuts and coffee.
KaiChun "Austin" Chuang, 18, who filmed McGrath's reaction explained that the idea came to him and his peers after their senior prom. "Mrs. McGrath invited all of us over for breakfast at like 12 a.m.," Chuang recalls. "Someone joked that they wouldn't mind going to bed right there in the living room. Then a couple of us glanced at each other like, 'hmmmm.'" Their strategy worked flawlessly and their prank was indeed successful. "Mrs. McGrath takes such good care of us," Chuang added. "Whenever people have a problem, they feel comfortable talking to her. She works hard to build trust." Viewers on Instagram were also in awe. "And this is how you know that the teacher had a positive impact on her students. I love this," commented @dsb_carollee. "This is the teacher they will be still talking about in 40 years. Cheers to her!" added @lj058.
