Hugh Grant Compares Himself to a 'Scrotum' In Hilarious Rant on 'Moisturizing' During Oscars alongside Andie MacDowell

It was Grant's reunion with the 'Four Weddings and a Funeral' co-star as the two went on stage to announce the production design winners.

Hugh Grant and Andie MacDowell might very well be the craziest moment from the 2023 Academy Awards. Fans were ecstatic to see a Four Weddings and a Funeral reunion. Then things got a tad raunchy as the couple prepared to unveil the winner of Best Production Design on March 12, per The Independent. The Notting Hill actor went on to compare himself to a "scrotum" in an attempt to appreciate his co-host and former co-star. The self-deprecating banter cracked up the audience present there as well as the Internet.

"We're actually here to do two things," Grant shared with the star-studded Dolby Theatre audience. And then unexpectedly stated that his look reminded viewers of the "essential need" of wearing moisturizer, even though, unlike MacDowell, he had never used the lotion. "The first is to raise awareness about the vital importance of using a good moisturizer. Andie has been wearing one every day for the last 29 years. I have never used one in my life," he said cheekily.

While Grant admitted his former co-star is "still stunning," he said he's "basically a scrotum," which started a wave of laughter as onlookers were taken aback by the metaphor used by the British actor to describe himself. MacDowell too struggled to get back on track after this shocking statement. The night was filled with incredulous laughter and joy as the two hosted together. The Crush actor then went on to take over the stage as she revealed their second motive for the evening, “The second is to celebrate the role of the production designer in the making of a great movie," per E! News.

“These unsung geniuses, armed with world-building imaginations that sometimes exceed all budgets, create new environments from thin air," She continued while trying to keep a straight face after the hilarious comment by her co-host. People took to Twitter as many shared how relatable and funny the joke made by Grant was. Many thought that Grant's joke stole the night while others just agreed that it was iconic of the actor to share the truth with no remorse at all. Viewers totally forgot about the announcement the hosts were supposed to make as they were busy laughing and MacDowell had to pause and wait for the audience to settle down for the big announcement.

Eric Deggans at NPR shared on Twitter saying, “Hugh Grant just called himself 'basically a scrotum' in comparison to co-presented Andie MacDowell at the #Oscars. Self-deprecating Hugh is the funniest Hugh.” Omid Djalili wrote, “Hugh Grant gets the biggest laugh of the night with superbly British delivery referring to his moisturized face and himself as 'basically a scrotum.' @HackedOffHugh doing Brits proud again." We expect more innovative metaphors from Grant rather than eye rolls which brought him some criticism after an Oscars red carpet incident.
