Hugh Grant Recalls Bowel Disaster After Gorging on Hot Dogs at a Rom-Com Shoot

Hugh Grant is possibly not a fan of hot dogs anymore and the reason is quite hilarious. Along with his Dungeons & Dragons co-star Chris Pine, he discussed the incident during his appearance on The Late Late Show With James Corden on March 29, 2023. The 62-year-old actor had an interesting throwback story for the audience where he revealed that eating way too many Nathan’s Famous hot dogs didn’t do anything positive to his bowels.
According to New York Post, Grant said, "In Coney Island, New York, I was shooting a film with Sandra Bullock, and at lunchtime, they all said, 'Oh, well, you must have Nathan’s hot dog. They’re famous in Coney Island.'" Grant described that "the hot dog was the most delicious thing he’d ever eaten in his entire life but he made a bad decision of eating four of them."
"But what no one explained to me is that there’s some ingredient that affects a digestive system, famously with these hot dogs," Grant continued. "So I was, to put it delicately, very late back to the makeup trailer." After having a possible bowel disaster, he had to get ready for the shoot and the makeup artist working for the movie was from Brooklyn, who asked him if the "hot dogs blew his a** out." To which, Grant had to agree.

Having four delicious hot dogs before the shoot was certainly not a genius idea for the actor. Though Grant did not name the movie he was working on back then, we could still guess that he was shooting the 2002 romantic comedy film Two Weeks Notice with Bullock. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the only time Grant had a bad run-in with hot dogs. According to New York Post, he was stalked around by someone dressed as a hot dog while attending San Diego Comic-Con in 2022. Talk about an absolute nightmare! The Love Actually star revealed the weird incident while speaking on a panel at the event with his co-stars.

"There was only one person at that convention who loved me, and he was dressed for the whole three days as a hot dog. And he followed me wherever I went. I couldn’t shake him. Do you remember the hot dog? I was terrified. I still have nightmares about him," Grant recalled, per the outlet.
The actor will be seen next in the 2023 film Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves which also stars Chris Pine, Daisy Head and Michelle Rodriguez. The film was released on March 31, 2023, in theaters worldwide. We hope Grant's nightmares involving hot dogs end soon and he can occasionally enjoy a hot dog or two.
