The internet is joking about Grant's strange behavior. "The Oscar for the guy who totally doesn't want to be there goes to Hugh Grant," said one comment.
The 95th Academy Awards was definitely a punch-up from the previous one or should we say a slap-up? Attending the Oscars is undoubtedly thrilling for most celebs. But constantly looking your best and responding in the best possible manner to different interview questions on the red carpet can be pretty nerve-racking. Hugh Grant didn't seem to enjoy his interview with ABC's Countdown to the Oscars co-host Ashley Graham. And he made it very apparent. It clearly looked like he'd rather be a million miles away from the prestigious event and he had time for no one.
Grant seemed a little off-putting and aloof throughout the conversation with Graham outside the Dolby Theater in Hollywood, Los Angeles, ahead of the big show, and really didn't want to engage at all. Graham started the series of questions with, "What's your favorite thing about coming to the Oscars?" mentioning that Grant has been to the event a number of times. At first, Grant seemed to have no answer as he fumbled. Finally, he said, "It's fascinating. The whole of humanity is here. It's vanity fair." When asked what he was wearing on the red carpet, Grant simply replied, "Just my suit" and said he couldn't remember his tailor when pressed for a more elaborate answer. When asked who he was rooting for, he was equally terse, saying, "No one in particular." Graham tried to change the subject by inquiring about his well-publicized cameo in Glass Onion but Grant simply replied, "Well, I'm barely in it. I'm in for about three seconds."

Graham ended the awkward exchange after asking a final question and receiving no response. She said, "Well, OK, it was nice to talk to you." "Yeah," Grant said, rolling his eyes as he handed back the microphone. We hope Grant was playing the role of the sarcastic king during the interview. The moment was not lost on fans watching at home and many took to Twitter to share their thoughts. Some found his dismissive answers insulting while others sympathized with the monotony of red-carpet interviews in general. Meanwhile, some fans jokingly suggested that Grant was being coerced into doing the interview.

Anyone catch the eye roll Hugh Grant just gave after this live Oscars interview? Was he mad she called him a “veteran” of the Oscars or was he just mad at the world? pic.twitter.com/VVFAlYpH51

Hugh Grant just gave the most dismissive interview I’ve ever seen, it was amazing. I’m paraphrasing but: “I LOVED Glass Onion, didn’t you love being in that?” “Well I was in it for about three seconds.” “But you showed up and had fun!” “Yeah, not really.” pic.twitter.com/uMRrkNk1qQ

The moment might have been awkward for Graham but the reactions that followed it were sure funny.
