The Met Gala theme might be Heavenly Bodies, Camp or a tribute to late fashion icon Karl Lagerfeld but one thing's certain—Jared Leto will never disappoint with his outfits. The actor and musician makes sure to turn up in some of the most bizarre red-carpet outfits that turn heads and get the media talking for weeks. This year, Leto arrived at the Met Gala in yet another outrageous ensemble. He donned a fluffy catsuit from head to toe as a tribute to Karl Lagerfeld's pet kitty, Choupette.

The annual fundraising gala which takes place at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York is known for its celebrity visitors' extravagant red carpet entrances. Leto didn't hold back when it came to rocking this year's theme—Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty—in a very interesting manner. 51-year-old Leto paid tribute to the late German fashion designer who passed away in February 2019. Among the Met Gala attendees who wore striking outfits, Leto’s look grabbed major attention.

At first, people weren’t sure who was inside the giant cat suit but Leto eventually halted his goofy movements as a giant blue-eyed cat to remove the head, revealing himself. We should hardly be surprised because his past Met appearances were equally shocking. Leto then continued to remove the rest of his cat costume before putting on outfit number two with the help of some attendants.

Leto has maintained his reputation of confusing people at the Met Gala for a while now. For Met Gala 2022, fans and netizens ended up confusing Swedish entrepreneur Fredrik Robertsson as Leto when he channeled the Gilded Glamour theme of the year. Wearing a silver Iris Van Herpen jumpsuit with impressive spokes of silver forming wings around his upper body and dark eye makeup dotted with white spots made him look like Leto’s long-lost twin. According to LADbible,  Leto also turned up with a replica of his own head in the 2019 event which was as well crafted as his elaborate cat costume.

Netizens were left scratching their heads at Leto’s outfit of choice and many even branded him as a “furry.” Some people appreciated the hard work and craftsmanship that went into creating the replica of Choupette whereas others thought that “Hollywood is getting weirder by the day.” But for the 2023 Met Gala, Leto was given tough competition by rapper Doja Cat who showed up with prosthetics on her face to look like a cat as well and meowed at the interviews. Donning a silver skintight gown from Oscar de la Renta, Doja Cat lived up to her stage name. We don't know if Leto is going to show up in the next year's Met Gala but if he does, we can bet that he will carry a costume that will keep people joking about him for a long time.
