It's an utter tragedy when you come up with a brilliant joke in the middle of a serious conversation and anticipate that the room will burst out laughing at your gag but nobody even lets out a chuckle. Can you imagine the embarrassment? Well, The Big Lebowski actor Jeff Bridges once had a similarly awkward moment.

In a roundtable interview by The Hollywood Reporter, Jeff Bridges was joined by other Hollywood A-listers for a conversation. Bridges, renowned for his genius sense of humor, interrupted the roundtable discussion to crack a solid gag. However, the people missed the joke pretty badly. The joke deserved a laugh, to put it mildly. Bridges made an impressive gag but even the likes of Pedro Pascal, Evan Peters, Kieran Culkin, Damson Idris and more couldn't get it. Haha! Their loss. It left Bridges foiled for a while but Twitterati declared his joke the highlight of the interview despite stars failing to understand it.

The Hollywood Reporter shared the video clip on their Twitter handle and the internet went frenzy with the joke falling flat. Since then, it has been viewed 16.7 million times, with over 10k likes and hundreds of comments. Bridges, the lead of many hit comedies, attempted the wisecrack during the discussion. Pascal was chatting away with the rest of the A-listers about the video game version of his latest release, The Last Of Us. Culkin asked Pascal whether the latter played the video game of his movie. Pascal responded, "I played it after the movie. I didn't know it existed when I got the job and I found out immediately what it was."

The Oscar winner then added that his nephews, who were teenagers, freaked out. Then Culkin asked further whether he played it after the movie. Pascal said, "I tried to play it but I can't play it." Bridges immediately quipped, "I got sucked into a video game." His interview companions looked at him and asked, "Which one?" "TRON," retorted Bridges. And that, my friends, was the brilliant joke they all so badly missed. Sigh! Pascal responded, "TRON, of course, the original video game adaptation." None of them realized the impressive punchline. Come on! Bridges was "The Dude."

Twiterrati couldn't forgive the actors for not getting the joke and roasted them all mercilessly. A Twitter user, @benjaminicraig was disappointed and sarcastically wrote, "Just WOW." Another user, @LyllaFloor angrily commented, "I demand a public apology addressed to Bridges from every single person at that table."

Another frustrated fan explained the context of the joke to those who missed it. @attanomy tweeted, "Those who didn't get the joke: In the movie TRON, Jeff's character literally gets sucked into a video game. Sad they didn't get it." @GeekStrongTV exclaimed, "How the hell didn't everyone burst out laughing? That joke went over all their heads."

Those who have watched the modern remake of TRON know Bridges played the character named Kevin Flynn, a computer programmer and video game designer who was dragged into the virtual world. At least, Bridges' relevant joke had takers on the internet!
