In an interview from six years ago, Johnny Depp shared that he confronted Al Pacino for his unhinged personality. Though the Hollywood legends shared the screen space in Donnie Brasco in 1997, the two have shared a comedic bond ever since. In fact, Depp dared to call Al Pacino "certifiably insane." LOL.

The duo is reuniting in 2023 as Depp confirmed to have signed Al Pacino for his upcoming biopic on Italian artist Amedeo Modigliani which he will direct. The Pirates of the Caribbean actor laughed while candidly calling Al Pacino the craziest actor. Speaking at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, the host asked Depp about some of the icons he has met during his career. Depp was quick to share fascinating and hilarious anecdotes about Marlon Brando. And, of course, about Al Pacino as well.

In the movie Donnie Brasco, Depp played an undercover FBI agent who infiltrated the Bonanno crime family in New York City during the 1970s. Over the years, Depp has become close to The Godfather star but initially, he was afraid to meet him. Well, it's the legendary Al Pacino, an icon for the audience and Hollywood A-listers alike who can give anyone goosebumps. At the film festival, during the Q and A segment, Depp joked that Al Pacino is craziness certified in real life.

He shared, "I'm going to work with Pacino." Depp added, "I'm thinking not going get lucky twice. There's no way; this guy will hand me my a*s." Depp added, "Because he looks like the kind of guy who's going hand you your a*s. It's Al Pacino." Haha! "So I was fully expecting it, and I'm like psychotic. I can't stand being able to joke around on set and things like that," continued Depp. "So I started pulling the gags on Al and that was the moment I realized he was absolutely out of his mind - I mean, he's certifiably insane." Depp really portrayed Al Pacino as some lunatic.

Then Depp admitted, "I wouldn't spend a night anywhere near his house." OMG! He even dared to confront the Scarface star about it. How did it go, you must be wondering? Depp didn't leave us guessing and shared Al Pacino's hilarious response to being called insane. He recalled a day on set, saying, "We're about three weeks into shooting and I said, you know, we're on the docks and Brooklyn. Finally, I just couldn't take it anymore. I said, 'Hey, you know, here's the funny thing now, the one thing that I never expected or imagined was that that you're actually, I mean, you're actually certifiably insane.'"

And Al Pacino's response was as iconic as he is. Depp explained, "He gave probably one of the most perfect comedic bumps I've ever seen - 'Oh, yeah, oh yeah, oh, yeah. You didn't know that?' I said, 'No, I didn't actually, I didn't really.' He said, 'Oh, yeah.'" Hysterical. Then it was Al Pacino's turn to comment on Depp. Depp continued, "And then he just sat there, the most beautiful f**king execution of timing, he just went, 'You're pretty f**king strange yourself.'" And everyone burst out laughing.
