Jon Stewart Makes Hilarious Return to ‘The Daily Show’ as Obi-Wan Kenobi

Sometimes we need advice and who best to offer it other than Star Wars' Obi-Wan Kenobi, the Jedi master himself. The Daily Show easily had one of its goofiest episodes when former Daily Show host Jon Stewart made an unexpected appearance on an episode to give guest host Roy Wood Jr. some sound advice. Wood was ranting about the pressures of being a guest host after wrapping up a segment on the day's news, which included Donald Trump's arraignment in New York as well as Marjorie Taylor Greene and George Santos' indictment-bombing.
"You've got to be funny, you've got to be satirical, you've got to be powerful, you've got to go viral," he said. "I don't know what to do. I just wish I had somebody that I could talk to guide me," complained Wood. Little did he know his wish would come true soon enough. Just then, Stewart costumed as Obi-Wan Kenobi jumped in and raised a resounding applause from the audience. Stewart, who hosted the late-night show from 1999 to 2015, made a joke about his tenure when Wood pretended not to recognize him. "I used to work here when the budget wasn't as big a few years back," Stewart said. "I actually hosted the program, to be honest with you."

"The Daily Show had a white host?" Wood questioned before asking Stewart why he was dressed as a Jedi (for comfort, of course) and complaining that he didn't want to be the Luke Skywalker to Stewart's Kenobi. The debate over Star Wars characters raged on until an exasperated Stewart agreed to play Yoda because "you're all hobbled and green and s—-," as Wood put it; Wood would play Lando Calrissian for "obvious reasons." "Is this a trap? Yeah, because you both have mustaches?" Stewart joked. Stewart began to counsel his friend as he got to the purpose of his precious visit. "My point is this, Roy, and thank you for having me on the program. And you're doing a fabulous job, by the way. The thing about this historic indictment is that…" But Wood interrupted to inform him that they had run out of time before he could finish.
Wood, a longtime correspondent on Comedy Central's The Daily Show, is the show's latest celebrity guest host. He surely did seek some advice to keep the hilarious show moving and who better to offer it than the experienced, Stewart aka Obi-Wan Kenobi himself? Chelsea Handler, Leslie Jones, John Leguizamo, Al Franken, D. L. Hughley, Hasan Minhaj, Kal Penn, Sarah Silverman, Wanda Sykes and Marlon Wayans were also tapped to fill in for Trevor Noah who left the Comedy Central and Paramount+ show on December 8, 2022, according to Entertainment Weekly.
