Although he doesn't understand a lot of what's happening in the game, he does recognize when something significant occurs.
Little children imitating their parents' behavior is natural and in most cases inevitable. It teaches children how to behave in certain situations appropriately. However, one may never know what these smart kids could observe and imitate. When we catch kids in such moments, it often leaves us amused.
Cuteness exceeded amusement in one video of a child imitating his father while watching a game on television. Shared on Reddit's Made Me Smile page by u/mindyour, the clip shows a toddler innocently imitating his father's emotional responses to how the game was going for his team. The little one clearly does not know what exactly made his father react that way but wants to support him nonetheless. The video is titled, "watching the game with dad," and has gained more than 28,700 upvotes and over 2000 comments.
The boy and his father can be seen watching the game with a lot of focus. While watching the game, the little boy realizes that there is something significant happening in the game. When something significant does happen in the game, the boy can be seen rejoicing the moment but pretty soon he observes his dad express disappointment and imitates his dad's reaction. He put both his hands on his head like his father does and falls back with a sigh.
Reddit users went gaga over the child's adorable reaction and couldn't stop obsessing over it. One user wrote, "This is the greatest! Mistake. Greatest mistake. We're very upset about this." Another commented: "Awww little buddy was so excited, then looked at dad and was like 'wait I'm doing it wrong.' Love it."
Some users recalled their own precious moments of watching a game with their dad. "This was me when my dad watched football. I'd always get surprised/scared when he shouted aloud in excitement but played along with him. Such wholesome times," recalled one Reddit user.
One parent shared their experience of their children watching a game with them. "My kid watched a Lions Chiefs game with me when he was like 3 years old. The lions are my team and the Chiefs absolutely ate them alive. Ever since then, he's been a Chiefs fan. He likes to say 'Chiefs vs. Daddy' whenever the Lions lose haha," they wrote.
"Man this is so adorable haha. He's looking for his dad's approval, and doesn't even realize he already has it simply by watching the game with him," added one Redditor. Some users related well with the little boy. "This was me when my dad watched football. I'd always get surprised/scared when he shouted aloud in excitement but played along with him. Such wholesome times," read a comment.
Children do seem to imitate our behavior well so maybe it's important to mind what we do while they watch us. "Today we had the TV on in the background with some movie going on. At some point, everyone in the movie burst into applause and started cheering, and my 2-year-old, who hadn't been paying any attention to the TV, suddenly got this expression of wonder on his face and started to clap and cheer and jump around with the movie. He had zero clue what it was about but people were celebrating and celebrate he did," shared a user.
Spending time with our parents as a child is something a lot of us cherish. Such moments captured often make up sweet memories to look back on. The relationship between a parent and a child is a transient one but such moments are what make it all worth holding on to. You can watch the cute clip here.
