MGK might have wanted to impress his favorite designer but things became awkward when he tried to introduce Owens to his daughter.
Machine Gun Kelly has been the favorite controversial figure for a while now. Whether it’s about his confusing relationship with actress Megan Fox, his recent breakup rumors with the actress, or his beef with Eminem, Kelly has maintained his troublesome reputation in the media. If you’ve not been keeping a tab on this rapper-turned-rockstar for a while, then you might not know that he has been dressing in American fashion designer Rick Owens’ creations mostly. Whether it’s clothes or shoes, it’s all Rick Owens for the musician. Machine Gun Kelly can be considered a Rick Owens’ fanboy at this point.
Well, the good news for Kelly is that he got an opportunity to talk to the famed designer last September. But recently a clip of his chat with Owens, while they are backstage during his fashion show, is going viral on TikTok. In a video shared by @loicprigenttiktok, we see a short-lived conversation between Owens and Kelly. People can’t help but point out how awkward the entire interaction is and some even call Machine Gun Kelly a “try-hard.”
Kelly attended the fashion show with his daughter Cassie and Megan Fox last year and their pictures were all over social media. But this particular clip is exactly what the netizens wanted as it is making them crack up. In the viral clip, MGK appears to be pretty nervous as he introduces Owens to his daughter and then says, “I couldn't believe there was yellow in the show.” Owens’ collection from last year was supposed to be all about using pink because he apparently wanted to challenge himself.
MGK proceeds to make things even more awkward for himself. "Yes, good. It's amazing. My nickname is Mr. Pink," he says to which Owens responds, “I didn't know that." The netizens were probably experiencing a moment of secondhand embarrassment but MGK was on a mission to maintain his confidence. "That's what all my friends — they are like, my code name is Mr. Pink," MGK added. But then Rick then abruptly said, "I think I have to go." And then the designer had to leave so he said, "Nice to meet you, thank you for coming," and walked away.
The comment section mercilessly trolled MGK’s awkward moment with the designer. Some even felt that it was refreshing to see celebrities losing their glamorous facades sometimes and feeling nervous. One person wrote: "Rick Owens is all of us when it comes to this guy." Another one chimed in and said: "Bro didn't even finish the excuse for leaving."
