“Just a reminder to not go to a bowling alley where there are UV lights when you've used a glue stick to glue down your eyebrows," she says.
TikTok beauty trends spread like wildfire and people don't hesitate to try them out. A lot of times these popular TikTok hacks even work well but not always. Testing them out on yourself could come with a heavy price... a price you might not be able to see clearly but cannot miss when under UV lights. Just ask Chloe.
Chloe, a 21-year-old TikTok user, recently used a glue stick to help shape her eyebrows. The makeup artist who goes by the user name @_chloe_michaela_ posted a video of herself trying a popular beauty hack and the clip caught the eye (brows) of over 185 thousand viewers.
Though the hack sounds weird, it grew popular on TikTok and helped many achieve the appearance of shiny, smooth brows. It appears to be a simple (and less expensive) alternative to brow gels or eyebrow lamination. Experts at L'Oréal Paris explained and reassured in a recent blog post, "Drag queens and other stage performers have used this method for years. So while it seems a little unorthodox, trust that it's the best tool for the job." This does seem like a tempting option to try.
So what could have possibly gone so wrong when Chloe tried this hack? It did give Chloe an instant glow but not in the way you imagine (think brighter). While Chloe's glue stick dried clear, she had no idea the ingredients in it would cause her brows to glow in the dark under certain lighting conditions. "Just a reminder to not go to a bowling alley where there are UV lights when you've used a glue stick to glue down your eyebrows," she says in the viral video clip.
"Cause this is why," she continues, before cutting to a video of herself at a said bowling alley. Chloe's brows literally glow in the dark in the second clip which was clearly not her intention. What others around her thought of her eyebrow-raising look is still in the dark though Chloe mentions she might have gotten a few "odd looks." But it was clear as day that she herself was mortified by the whole thing.
"I can't believe I was seen out in public like this," she wrote in the post caption (we can't either) while throwing light on an important reminder and why she wouldn't try this hack again. She also wrote, "Like imagine going for your first date looking like this." People in the comment section evidently couldn't stop their giggles. "Omg how funny," wrote @shannon.shaw3229. "Omgggg this has made my day," commented @fliss.beee68. "It did look like you smeared toothpaste on them!!" teased @mjfouldes.
Now you know how to get glow-in-the-dark eyebrows for the next Comic Con. You're welcome.
