Man Demands Uber Charges from Partner for Driving Her from Work and Everyone’s Baffled | “Sounds like a Major Jerk”
Sometimes, couples split their bills evenly to avoid any future hassle and at other times, one partner might just offer to treat the other simply because they love each other. Times have changed and people in relationships have started demanding fees from their partners for the services they provide. One woman took to Reddit and expressed her frustration over her boyfriend's behavior and mentioned an instance where he demanded money in exchange for driving her from her workplace.
u/Topayornot posted about her ugly situation and asked the online community for their opinion on it. The woman started the post by sharing that she was working somewhere else away from home and it usually takes her $25 to get an Uber ride home. "My boyfriend offered to pick me up from work after I told him the price of the Uber sometimes. He got us home. It’s a 30-minute ride, about 20 miles," the Reddit user added.
But later, she received quite a shock after her boyfriend insisted that she should pay him for the ride. "I said fine I don’t mind paying petrol costs. He said I’d have to give him $25 because he went out of his way to get me and I would have given it to the Uber driver anyway. He insists that it makes no sense for me not to pay him what I would give to the Uber driver. I told him that’s different because he’s my boyfriend and an Uber driver is a service," she added in the post.
The woman offered to give her boyfriend $12.5 but the lad wasn't happy about it. She asked the community to share their opinions on whether or not she should pay her boyfriend Uber money and also mentioned how she had shown the responses from netizens to her boyfriend. As a result, he has also apologized for his action. A majority of Reddit users were quick to shame the boyfriend for demanding money and urged the woman to dump him as soon as possible.

I'd give him the money and nothing else next time he wants to get romantic. Just say you don't want to impact your professional relationship." u/2_black_cats commented: "I have so many feelings about your man that I’m not going to say out loud but none of them are good based on this." Sure, many netizens were left wondering about the boyfriend's weirdly petty behavior.
u/Dimirosch joked and said: "Do you make breakfast or any other kind of food for him? If so, charge him the prices of a café/restaurant and see if he is willing to pay." This post has more than 16.1K upvotes and almost 3.2K comments from community members. But in the end, the boyfriend realized his mistake and apologized for having asked for money after giving her a ride.
