Man Takes Break From ‘Being Human’ and Decides to Live Like a Goat in the Swiss Alps

Living an adult (human) life is pretty difficult. We have to wake up, hustle to make money, pay bills and by the end of the day, we are dead tired to boot. Animals seem to be leading a less complicated life. So this man just made up his mind to turn into a goat and get rid of the stressful life he was living in. Well, Thomas Thwaites didn’t perform any kind of voodoo magic to transform into a goat—he simply chose to live like one for a while.
According to The Independent, Thwaites has documented his unusual choice of lifestyle in a book titled GoatMan: How I Took A Holiday From Being a Human. The self-proclaimed goat-man spoke to BBC Radio 4’s Today Programme and shared how he took a break from “being human.” He had apparently thought that it would be nice to just have a break from all of the stress. And he listened to his inner voice and headed to the Swiss Alps.

Thwaites also recalled that as a child he used to think that if he was a cat he wouldn’t have to go to school. “But rather than just letting my childish wishes go, I wrote to the Wellcome Trust, and they gave me a small arts award, which was called by bluff, I suppose," he said. “It became an investigation into how close we can come to fulfilling this ancient human dream. I did a bit of research and you can easily find all the cave paintings depicting half-human and half-beast.”

Thwaites, fortunately, received the funding which was essential to make his dream come true and went through a number of prototypes to become a goat-like creature. He ended up using prosthetic limbs and walking in a field with goats with appropriate protective gear and a helmet. “I went to a goat farm in the Alps and had some prosthetics made by a doctor at the University of Salford prosthetics clinic, including prosthetic hooves and prosthetic back legs,” he revealed.
He said he even attempted to give his stomach similar digestive qualities to those of a goat by eating grass. Thwaites added that he would recommend others to try being a goat and he described it as a “special kind of time.” After surviving three days on the goat farm, he crossed the Alps and returned back to normal life.

Well, this isn’t the first time a human is choosing to experience animal life. According to LAdbible, a Japanese man previously spent a whopping $14,939.88 to craft himself a life-life dog costume that he loves to wear. That ridiculously realistic mutt costume startled people on the internet as the Japanese man started creating content on social media about his life as a dog. Well, these individuals seem perfectly content with their alternative lifestyle and some are getting to unleash their inner furries by testing out the way an animal lives.
