Man With the World’s Longest Tongue Leaves People Tongue-Tied by Using It to Paint Works of Art

"I wrap my tongue in cling wrap, dip that in acrylic paint and apply that to a canvas," the artist said of his creative process.

People are talented in multiple ways. Sometimes, in ways, we cannot even fathom. Nick Stoeberl of California in the United States holds the Guinness World Record (GWR) for the longest tongue. However, the man disgusted netizens when he used his 3.97-inch-long tongue to paint during an episode of This Morning.

This Morning is a popular chat show that airs on the ITV network Monday through Friday. During his appearance on the show, Stoeberl used his tongue to draw portraits of the show's hosts, Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby, on a canvas. Netizens were both amazed and disgusted by Stoeberl's actions and it was hard to watch the act till the end.

The giggling hosts looked on in disbelief as Stoeberl wrapped his record-breaking tongue in cling film to show off his painting skills and painted a portrait of them live on the show. "I feel like I shouldn't be watching you do this, it feels very personal," Holly joked.

Turning the canvas around to reveal his creation, he said: "It's hard to capture the beauty of you both, but I did my best." Holly laughed and replied: "I'm very small compared to Phil, I'm almost like a little parrot on your shoulder."

"A little pea head," Phil teased. The hosts mentioned that the average male tongue is 8.5 cm (3.3 in) long, while the average female tongue is 7.9 cm (3.1 in). Stoeberl's tongue is so long that he can lick his nose and elbow, which is usually impossible for the average person to do.

Stoeberl revealed he works as an American government official but added that he can’t go into further details about what he does. He joked, "I may or may not be the result of a government experiment like 'The Hulk,' if I'm not careful I may turn green."

Stoeberl shared that he first noticed his tongue was longer than usual when he was a kid and would stick it out at people. He was given the nickname Gene Simmons in high school, after the long-tongued Kiss rocker. Nick's record was confirmed after a medical professional measured his tongue from tip to closed upper lip and signed a statement to prove how long it is.

When it comes to his artwork, Nick goes by the name Lickasso. Despite having a very different style from Picasso, Nick has sold his paintings for as much as $1,200, according to the Guinness World Records website (GWR). Nick has held his record since 2012.

In conversation with the GWR, Stoeberl explained how he paints using his tongue: "I wrap my tongue in cling wrap, dip that in acrylic paint and apply that to a canvas. I know it's rather long and I can do that so why not express myself through that medium?"

According to the artist, having an extra-long tongue has two disadvantages. First, he is always at risk of choking on his tongue while sleeping and second, he has to spend more time brushing his tongue in the morning. Despite his impressive artistic skill, there is no doubt that people watching him paint, found it to be icky and disgusting. These are a few things people had to say about his rare skill on Twitter.
