Mandy Patinkin Humorously Clapbacks Elon Musk for Misquoting From His 1987 Classic ‘The Princess Bride’

Elon Musk has been under fire from various celebrities and notable figures for a while, all thanks to his chaotic changes on Twitter after he took over the platform as a CEO. Even though the billionaire has announced that he will be stepping down from this position, he still has a lot of responsibilities. Musk had to sit down for an interview with CNBC where he made a reference to a famous fictional character from The Princess Bride.
I do not think it means what you think it means. https://t.co/LPtzkB6L6p

@NikkiMcR was one of the many people who posted a clip from the interview on Twitter and the caption read: "When asked if he's worried his tweets are hurting his companies, Musk compares himself to Inigo Montoya from The Princess Bride." Nobody anticipated the actor of Inigo Montoya himself to show up in order to take a jab at Musk. Actor Mandy Patinkin, who is known for playing the swordsman Montoya in the 1987 classic, dropped in to throw a tweet aimed at Musk and flaunt his sense of humor.

Musk had used the iconic lines of Montoya to justify making controversial and sometimes false comments on Twitter even if it scares away advertisers.“You know, I’m reminded of. There’s a scene in The Princess Bride — great movie — where he confronts the person who killed his father and he says, ‘Offer me money, offer me power, I don’t care,’” Musk told journalist David Faber of CNBC.
“So you just don’t care?” Faber questioned back. “I’ll say what I want to say and if the consequence of that is losing money, so be it,” Musk responded. “I do not think it means what you think it means,” Patikin wrote for the video clip of Musk which was circulated on Twitter. It looks like Patinkin might have assumed that Musk was missing the point of the original dialogue but nonetheless, his tweet got viral popularity. The netizens were left divided after Patinkin’s clap back and some even took Musk’s side.
Since the invention of the clapback, there have been 5 perfect clapbacks. This one left them all behind. https://t.co/qjMlMRllur

I especially love the long, awkward pause (intended to represent calm, intelligent reflection?)

"Hello, Twitter, my name is Elon Musk. Prepare to die.”
@GoSeaHox tweeted in favor of Patinkin and wrote: "Since the invention of the clap back, there have been 5 perfect clap backs. This one left them all behind." @pkwhateva2 wrote: "Wow! So so much respect for Elon. He stands on his beliefs and ethos. His character and pushing limits are why he is, who he is. You can't second guess his success." Some commenters believed that "Elon knows what he is doing."

Well, Musk’s drastic actions for the social media giant will continue but on the other hand, we can also appreciate Patinkin’s active support in the high-profile writers strike. According to HuffPost, the 70-year-old actor picketed outside Warner Bros Discovery’s offices in New York last week, carrying a sign inspired by another famous quote of his from The Princess Bride. The sign read: “You Killed Residuals Prepare To Pay!” and it was a reference to his line in the 1987 classic: “Hello, my name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die.”
Should go without saying that Princess Bride views are about to skyrocket
