Man Parks His BMW on the Beach And It Gets Washed Away to the Sea at High Tide | “I Would Have Let It Sink”

It is always a hassle to find a proper parking spot when you are out vacationing or simply visiting a crowded tourist location. But one must always comply with the rules of nature and not park their vehicles where they can easily get damaged due to the wrath of nature. One man possibly witnessed the greatest horror of his life when he found his pricey BMW M4 Convertible washed into the sea after he parked it on the sandy beaches of Cornwall's Trevaunance Beach in the United Kingdom.
According to The Mirror, the Cornwall beaches witnessed a surge in the number of tourists over the weekend as countless people packed up their picnic baskets and headed to the beach as the sun shone and the temperature spiked. But this unfortunate BMW owner was all occupied with fishing his car out of the water while other tourists enjoyed their time. The coastguard was dispatched on the morning of May 28, 2023 after someone reported spotting a black BMW drifting in the water. Around 8.30 am, the St Agnes Coastguard Search and Rescue Team was notified about the incident. Video footage covering the incident showed the vehicle as it was picked up by incoming waves and slowly began drifting out after being left on Trevaunance Beach at St Agnes, Cornwall, on Sunday. Lifeguards can be heard making cheeky remarks like "you can't park there."
The BMW worth $1,24,241 was rendered undrivable once it was taken out of the water as sea water had trickled down its exhaust pipe, per the outlet. Coastguard arrived to inspect if there was anyone inside the car when it went into the sea. After two hours of hard work, the rescue team was able to bring the BMW out of the sea. St Agnes Coastguard Search and Rescue Team shared about the whole car retrieving mission on their Facebook page and wrote: "The vehicle was finally removed. The team stood down and returned to the station at 1019 hrs."
I hope the owners of the car will be paying for the cost of recovery

As if getting his luxury vehicle in the ocean wasn't nightmarish enough, the unnamed BMW owner got thoroughly roasted on the internet as well. Many slammed the driver for leaving the car on the beach and said they should be forced to pay for the cost of the call-out. "Hope they will be charged for the efforts and costs associated with this stupidity," commented one user on Facebook. Another one suggested that the coastguard should "keep their budget for when people actually need help." Others called the whole situation "an absolute disgrace, a waste of time and resources and not funny anymore."
This happens every year, several times. Why do people not know how tides work!

However, this isn't the first time a car has rolled into the sea due to rip tide. According to LADbible, a few years ago a car was swept out to sea on Whitstable Beach in Kent as onlookers watched on in horror. A van got swallowed up by the sand on the beachfront at Weston-Super-Mare in Somerset as well. Well, maybe it's high time for vehicle owners to take lessons from these incidents and start parking only in designated parking areas.
