Marriage is a sacred union between two individuals based on love, trust and life-long companionship. However, not everyone seems to understand that and this one man destroyed his marriage by making a stupid proposal to his wife. His confession on Reddit infuriated the community to a great extent. In a now-deleted Reddit post, u/BickleKnack shared the story of his failed marriage and how he should have been careful about what he wished for.

The guy elaborated about how he started losing attraction towards his wife after five years of marriage and that prompted him to suggest having an open marriage. The unnamed wife reluctantly agreed to this idea but when the man had an ugly experience with another woman on the side and realized that he only wanted to be with his wife, the Reddit user was in for a shock. “After we closed, things seemed to improve fairly quickly," u/BickleKnack wrote. "Our sex life improved (at least I thought), we seemed very into each other and started planning a move out of state to be closer to her family. We didn’t end up staying there long because the job and school prospects were much worse than we thought. We ended up moving but coming back to the same state only a few months later.”

Things might have seemed normal on the surface but it actually wasn’t as the Reddit poster dug his own grave. After moving back, his wife suggested opening their marriage once again to which he unhappily agreed. But he was stunned to find out that she had already made arrangements to meet with someone. “I immediately felt my stomach start doing backflips,” he wrote, elaborating further. “The fact that she had a person lined up already did not sit well with me."

"She had been planning on me being okay with this and essentially was searching for other partners in advance. I told her I was willing to work on our marriage but that being with other people was not something that I was interested in anymore. This was unacceptable to her at this point. The terms of an open marriage are that both people must consent, otherwise, it’s just cheating. I withdrew my consent and told her that any further interactions she had with xxxx would be cheating in my eyes. Massive red flag,” the disgruntled Reddit user added.

u/BickleKnack got his self-esteem brutally pounded and they came to the conclusion that their marriage was not going to work out anymore and divorce was the only option left. At the end of the post, he claimed that “he still loves his ex-wife and he really does not know what to do anymore.” But looks like the Reddit community was not showering sympathy on his self-made destructive situation.

Many taunted and mocked the Reddit user for “opening his marriage due to his selfish wants” and concluding that he deserved whatever happened to him. Well, folks out there can possibly take a lesson from this Reddit post which was possibly deleted out of shame once the user realized how brutally unfiltered the community can be.
