The police department is prioritizing bringing back the statue to its original spot but currently, there is no clue about its whereabouts.
It’s not some escaped prisoners or a brain-racking criminal case that is responsible for giving the Hatfield Police Department of Massachusetts sleepless nights. It's an ogre.
Don’t be alarmed, it’s not a real ogre who has jumped out of the pages of a fairytale but a statue of the iconic ogre named Shrek—the fictional character animated by DreamWorks Pictures—which has mysteriously disappeared. The Hatfield Police Department is currently trying to hunt down a 200-pound Shrek statue, reports CNN.
The police department even shared a post on their official Facebook page which reads: "HAVE YOU SEEN ME?!? This approximately 200lb cement Shrek sculpture has gone missing from his home on Mountain Road. If you have any information of his current whereabouts please reach out to our department or return him in the condition you found him."
"The dragon sculpture he lives with is frustrated and lonely," the post hilariously added to the online statement. The post also has a photo of the fluorescent-green cement statue, dressed in Shrek’s iconic vest.
According to NDTV, a representative for the Hatfield Police Department told a local news outlet: "It is not something that could be easily moved around. There are evident drag marks that he did not go willingly." The devastated owner misses the statue which may be worth $500 but is priceless to him.
The internet crowd is thrilled and amused to know that a manhunt to retrieve a missing Shrek statue is something that is happening in real life. @chan_and_walter on Twitter said: "This is the funniest thing I’ve ever seen, hands down."

@JShack45 even joked about putting out an amber alert to find the missing Shrek statue as soon as possible. Another Twitter user, @Hailey99315851 seemed disappointed that instead of getting seeing flying cars in the 21st century, we are getting news of a stolen Shrek statue. The police department is prioritizing bringing back the poor statue to its original spot but currently, there is no clue about its whereabouts. Shrek might have wandered off on a quest with his trusted buddy Donkey... but then, this Shrek is made out of solid cement so the chances are quite slim.
Anyone get the amber alert for the missing Shrek statue missing out of Hatfield Massachusetts

The character of Shrek shot to fame with the release of the 2001 animated film by DreamWorks Pictures which made $491.8 million at the box office. The film parodied fairy tale tropes and launched a series of sequels and spin-off movies after the success of the original film.
As of now, we only know that a fifth Shrek film might get released at some point in the future but there has been no news about its development so far. Let’s hope we can see the return of our beloved ogre on screen soon and find the missing statue back in its swamp in Massachusetts sooner.
