Mom Treats Her 12 Kids to Nachos in a Pool Tub and People Are Grossed Out by Her 'Insane' Choice | “Worst Nightmare”
As seen in a now-viral Tiktok video, a mother of 12 treated her children to a Tex-Mex-inspired nacho platter, complete with tortilla chips, ground meat, a gooey cheese sauce, veggies and a sour-cream drizzle. But this deliciousness was served to her kiddos in a small blue plastic swimming pool tub. This nacho pool is probably nacho cup o' cheese. Alicia Dougherty, 42 from New York captioned the viral video clip with, "[Snack] board got upgraded to a #NachoPool for Cinco de Mayo" and added in her close caption, "Nacho pool party for my 12 kids." The trending TikTok bagged over 1.9 million views and a lot more judgemental responses than we expected.
Dougherty is raising a blended family of biological and adopted children ranging in age from 4 to 17 and in the video, we see her creating the surprise appetizer in a small kiddie paddling pool which is typically used to cool off babies. While celebrating Cinco De Mayo, Dougherty decided that nachos would be a good snack for her kids. She smothered the crisp bites with a smorgasbord of toppings after dumping several bags of tortilla chips into the basin. After pouring in the nacho chips, she added the minced meat, sauces, lettuce, cheese and olives, and finished the mountain of nachos with what appeared to be sour cream. Her little tribe bellied up to the hulking chip bowl and dug in without plates, utensils or napkins at the end of the short clip.
Feeding 12 every day doesn't sound like an easy task but we wonder if she ran out of utensils at home. Although Dougherty's uncomplicated feast was the most convenient way to feed her unfussy at-home crowd, critics were disgusted by the unappetizing display. Many people criticized the proportion of toppings to the chips, the size of the olives and tomatoes and how the dish wasn't layered well. It's not what she did but how she did it that grossed many people out.
"At what point do we start to think 'this is insane'? 'cause I think you are beyond that point," commented @heimiticuellar. "The chips at the bottom are just wasted lol," wrote @miradical. "My entire family said we need to try this (that’s 13 people). I'm still not sure," said @natural.simpleliving. "Is the pool not dirty?" questioned @roston_richardson22 while @freespirit1987 added, "How much of that got water on it? Lol." "When I saw NachoPool, I thought they were going to swim in it and I got really confused," commented @atzin1202. "Was waiting for you to float it in the big pool like those fancy hotels," joked @braidssbyemily. "This has to be wrong," said @dyllanwellhausen. "My worst nightmare tbh," shared @nic. While most people were critical of this act, there were a few who appreciated the creativity. "That's the best non-pool use for a pool ever," wrote @stacicrisman. "People these days are so critical! I think that looks so fun!" added @marciasteinbach3.
Some Twitter reactions showed that Twitter was equally baffled by the choice of the bowl.
