Some would-be dads even whine about having plans for the weekend. "Some partners are hard to live up to. Get yourself a good one," the nurse advises.
You might have heard stories from mothers who just delivered a baby—about the pain, the happiness, and the gamut of emotions involved in the process. But a labor and delivery nurse has different insights from being inside the delivery room during many childbirths. In a viral TikTok video, the 30-year-old named Holly reveals outrageous remarks made by husbands during labor and presents them as inspirational quotes.
During childbirth, the labor room is a mess, and so are the people inside. But how does that justify the absurd comments made by fathers during the procedure?
This L&D nurse has observed many men reacting bizarrely when their girlfriends/wives are pushing out their children. In her video, she turned those comments into inspirational quotes and shared the message saying: "Some partners are hard to live up to. Get yourself a good one."
Some of the inappropriate comments she's heard are:
"I think you should just get a C-section. This is taking too long."
"Are you sure you want an epidural? My mom did not have one. Before you make a decision, we should talk about it."
"How long is this gonna take? I have plans this weekend."
With 10.4 million views and 2 million likes, the video went viral across social media platforms. It was so relatable that Holly shared a part 2 with even more absurd remarks. Some are:
"Can you move to the birthing ball, so I can sleep in the bed?"
"Do you guys do DNA tests here, my mom wants me to get one before we leave."
Holly is a practicing nurse with over six years of experience. Asking to keep her last name hidden due to privacy concerns, she told TODAY, "Sometimes the moms think it is funny, and if they think it is funny, then I will laugh with them. But if they get upset, I will try to be the buffer. I will change the subject."
Holly also revealed that many fathers do not participate in the delivery process because they either pass out or are too busy with phones.
She said, "The most successful couples are the ones who have some sort of birthing plan in place." She recalled a woman who said she wanted to snack while in labor. So, her husband came up with an ingenious solution. "Her husband made this portable vending machine with snacks in all different flavors, and it was the sweetest thing," Holly said. "He found the perfect way to support her."
TikTok went into a frenzy upon being presented with evidence of how awful some men can be. TikTok user @Brittany, wrote, "I would divorce or murder. Nah! I cannot go to jail, so I would definitely divorce." Meanwhile, @Art3mis22 had a brutal solution for such dads and wrote, "If I ever hear a man say this, I will personally throw something at his head."
@darkdollkitty, quipped, "Gonna have a baby and a homicide charge." A hilarious idea came from the user, @Stories, who wrote: "I would have strangled them with the baby's umbilical cord."
