Parents Stumped by Kids’ Bursting Into Tears When They Surprise Them With a Trip to Disney World
Who doesn't want to visit Disney World? Age is never a factor when it comes to enjoying fun rides at Disney and most of us would love to go on a trip there with our family and friends. But this family from Long Island was not ready for their daughters' unexpected reaction to a surprise trip to the popular theme park.
Joceline Martin has been planning the special vacation for months. According to TODAY, she couldn’t wait to see her daughters, 9-year-old Delaney, and 5-year-old Drew, react to the Disney World trip they were about to get surprised with. “I thought they would see their suitcases and just lose their minds," Martin told the outlet.
In a TikTok footage shared by @alt__313, netizens see the two unsuspecting little girls, Delaney and Drew, return from their school. That's exactly when Martin announces that they will be going on a Disney World vacation. But rather than screaming with joy and jumping around the house as we expected, Delaney and Drew burst into tears. The little girls look shocked and horrified at the surprise and sure enough, this is not the reaction their mother or anyone else was expecting. Those weren't tears of joy by any means.
"They’d been talking about wanting to go to Disney for like, three years. It was 'When are we going? When are we going?'" Martin said. "I was expecting this sweet, heartwarming moment."
Despite laughing in the background of the video, she admits that she "felt terrible" that her kids were so scared at the news. "They’re both terrified of heights and that’s what set them off," the mom said. "I think it was like, ‘I want to go to Disney — but not on an airplane.' They were also feeding off each other."
In the video, the sisters finally calm down and start showing signs of excitement when Martin explains that their grandma will be meeting the family at the Orlando, Florida, airport. Delaney appears super excited about the Disney T-shirts that Martin and her husband, James bought for the girls to wear on the flight.
Martin also revealed that her daughters were nervous on the flight but they held it together until they reached the destination. "We ended up having a beautiful trip," Martin shared. "They were so overly thankful. Our next stop is a Disney cruise!"
Some of the comments on TikTok found Martin’s situation quite relatable. @beloved_orphan_not4 wrote: "Mine cried too about the plane. We had a big elaborate reveal that was met with tears." @sarawills38 wrote: "That would be me now. Even at 39. An airplane no thanks! Haha, I’ve flown 6 times and that was enough!"
Well, the good news is, after all the tears, Martins and her family were able to make it to Disney World and they definitely made a lot of great memories.
