Most of us are familiar with Joe Goldberg, the creepy yet oddly charming character from Netflix’s You—brought to life by Gossip Girl fame Penn Badgley. Goldberg’s character is known for its monologues and spine-chilling one-liners. He is also known for insightful and memorable quotes as he navigates his dangerous love life. But for a special video, Joe Goldberg isn’t stalking or terrorizing anyone with lethal intent. He is out there to entertain people through a TikTok video.

In the video, Badgley acts both as himself and Goldberg to imagine a scenario where Badgley is lecturing the serial killer about killing people. “Ok, this should be a pretty simple subject,” Badgley says to Goldberg in the video. “So, repeat after me: Don’t kill people.” But Goldberg’s brain works differently. He is a seasoned criminal and he can’t seem to understand what Badgley wants to teach him. “Put them in a cage,” Goldberg immediately responds without skipping a beat. “Okay, well, that’s just, let’s just try again. Don’t kill people,” Badgley seems disappointed with the response and makes another attempt to teach Goldberg. “Stalk ‘em first?” Goldberg says with his signature evil grin.

The conversation goes back and forth and Badgley makes no progress with Goldberg. When Goldberg claims that all of it “sounds exactly the same to him,” Badgley throws his hands up in the air and says, “This is too hard. I can’t teach you.” The funny exchange between the actor and his character has amassed over 9 million views and 1 million likes so far. There were several comments that joked about the Friends reference Badgley included in the video.

In the fourth season of the popular show, Badgley’s character can be seen moving to London, England and now works as an English professor under the name of Jonathan Moore. But old habits die hard, so his interest is ignited by yet another woman who is an art gallery director named Kate Galvin.

Badgley also co-hosts a podcast called Podcrushed along with Nava Kavelin and Sophie Ansari and in a recent episode of the podcast, he talked about the popular show. “Fidelity in every relationship, including my marriage, is important to me,” he explained the reason behind fewer sex scenes in the show lately. “It’s got to the point where I don’t want to do that.”

“I don’t think I have ever mentioned it publicly, but one of the main things was, do I want to put myself back on a career path where I’m always the romantic lead?” Badgley added. Thankfully, the show’s creator Sera Gamble was receptive to the actor’s request. Season four of You premiered last Thursday on Netflix and is divided into two parts. Part two will be released on March 9.
