People Are Convinced Taylor Swift Doesn't Know the Price of Eggs After Her Reaction to Trevor Noah's Joke

Taylor Swift's expression when Trevor Noah asked her to get her fans to lower the price of eggs says it all.

The Grammy Awards ceremony of 2023 was an absolute blast, thanks to powerful performances, surprising wins, and comedian Trevor Noah, who did a splendid job as the host. Noah combed through the crowd of famous audience and kept music's biggest night engaging while generating some meme-worthy moments. According to Rolling Stone, this is Noah’s third time hosting the Grammys and he did his job like the pro that he is by tossing in pop-culture references and generating hearty laughter from the crowd. "For the first time in three years we are coming to you live from Los Angeles," Noah said at one point. "The best city in the world if you ignore a few other cities."

As the evening moved forward, Noah sat down beside Taylor Swift. Among his slew of jokes, a few were meant for Taylor, her fans, and interestingly enough, the price of eggs in the US.

Noah’s little chat with Swift went viral as he brought up the topic of her fans who recently made headlines for suing Ticketmaster following the messy presale for the singer’s upcoming Eras Tour. "I'm just wondering once they're done with this, can you get them to handle the price of eggs?" Noah asked Swift next, making a reference to the rising price of eggs in America.

Swift had a deadpan expression plastered on her face as she took a few sips of her drink afterward. Sure enough, the singer had no idea how to react except to reply that "her fans were the best and could get anything done."

"Swifties, price of eggs, down," Trevor said, concluding his conversation with Swift.

The singer's blank expression has many speculating that she didn’t quite catch the reference about the rising prices of eggs in the market. According to Forbes, the main reason egg prices remain high is the spread of the avian influenza virus which started in early 2022 and has resulted in the price of eggs climbing from $2 to $7 for a dozen lately. It's pretty obvious that an A-list music artist like Swift isn't keeping track of her grocery prices on a daily basis.

The internet has erupted with laughter and funny commentaries from those who witnessed the awkward interaction between Noah and Swift. Someone stated on Twitter that "Taylor is so out of touch that she didn't even understand the egg thing at all." Another person wrote that "Trevor Noah was making poor person jokes around Taylor Swift" and she was obviously not meant to understand it.

However, the 64th annual Grammy Awards night wasn't entirely awkward interactions or disappointments for Swift as she took home the award for Best Music Video for All Too Well: The Short Film. Now that Swift has bagged her well-deserved trophy, we can only hope that the prices of the eggs can lower quickly so there is no need to make egg references in future award shows.
