"Just because I do not have the title of the pilot on an overpriced piece of paper does not mean I am not a pilot," he claims.
I have studied interior design, but I love psychology. Over the years, I amassed substantial knowledge about human personality and can safely call myself a counselor. Will you book an appointment with me?
Confused? Well, a man baffled the internet with a similar story when he wanted to be addressed as a pilot despite being a restaurant manager.
The man ranted about his strange desire in Reddit's Am I The A***hole forum and people couldn't help but wonder if the man needs help.
In a now-deleted post, he expresses his disappointment in his wife, who refused to introduce him as a pilot to her colleagues. Well, she did the right thing because he has never flown a plane in his life.
The man actually works as a restaurant manager and is highly insecure about his job profile. Their marriage is five years old, and they have reportedly had no major arguments during this period. But, this particular issue is making the man consider a divorce, reports Scary Mommy.
He wrote in his post: "Since my wife and I have been together, I have worked as a manager for a restaurant chain. I am an extremely passionate aviation enthusiast in my free time. I have spent thousands of dollars on flight textbooks, sim gear, and even built my a330 setup. I have never actually flown a plane or started flight training, but I have considered it for a long time. Even though my skills are not a career, I still consider myself adept or possibly more knowledgeable than the average pilot."
Are you kidding me?
“The woman was too stunned to speak” was a bad tiktok reference. This man is not my husband !!! https://t.co/FIQcUwnmwy

"My wife and I were invited to one of her male coworker's house for a barbecue," he continued. "My wife is a senior software tech for a COVID-19 startup... We make our way down the line to the host of the party, a new male hire that she has grown platonically close with. We exchange casual conversation and Greg (host) asked what I do for a living. My wife chimes in with 'He manages a [insert fast food chain], it certainly comes with some benefits (I'm assuming she's referring to free food),' in a voice that implied nothing was wrong with what she said."
His rant continued to make no sense at all. But, somehow, he felt that it was time he boasted about his "imaginary skills."
He shared: "I very quickly corrected her and told him that I am a pilot. My wife already knows how insecure I am about my job and how I’d much rather be introduced by my hobby. I have earned the title of the pilot through my 500+ hours on and sim and thousands of dollars put into my craft. It is incredibly disrespectful for her not to acknowledge my skills and training. Just because I do not have the title of the pilot on an overpriced piece of paper does not mean I am not a pilot."
Mind blown. The poor man sure needs some help.
The man continued about his wife, "She feels I do not deserve my title as a pilot because I am not professional. I told her she is completely insensitive to the work I've done, and she will never understand what it's like to study so much."
He added, "Am I really the a**hole for asking to be respected?"
His desire for respect is legit, but for what? People are clueless about how to respond to his identity crisis, and some are even laughing out loud. People on Twitter and Reddit shared their thoughts.
The “can’t be real” crowd needs to acknowledge how lucky they are that none of their friends married some totally yikesadoodle wacko. You see one super bizarre controlling weirdo and then you too, like Fox Mulder, will believe.

One Twitter user showed sympathy for him and had a valuable suggestion.
The dude sounds like he should seek therapy to get some tools to help handle his insecurities with his work and relationship.

If he could sort those feelings out, maybe he could pursue flight school.
And y'know, become a pilot.
"By that logic, I'm a surgeon because of all the years I played Operation as a kid. Anyone need me to remove a kidney?" commented u/Araucaria2024. "My husband just asked me to introduce him as the owner of an MLB franchise moving forward because he knows more about baseball than the owner of the Baltimore Orioles," wrote u/LadyGreyIcedTea.
