Woman Posts Hilarious Photos of Husband's Creative Bed-Making Skills | "I Hope It Lasts for a While"

Joanne single-handedly managed household chores for 45 years but she had no idea how skilled her husband was in bed-making till he took over.

Making a bed might seem like a simple daily home chore. And if you are the one in the house doing it consistently for 45 long years, it also becomes a habit. But what if, one day, your partner takes over the duty of making the bed every morning? How would that feel?

For Joanne Sterling, her husband taking over the bed-making duties came as a breather and a daily source of entertainment.

After diligently doing it for 45 years, it finally dawned on Joanne that Jim should buckle up and participate in household chores. Jim made a deal with Joanne, and they mutually agreed that he would take over the bed-making duty. Little did they know, he'd turn out to be a natural at it!

Jim enjoyed his daily duty and did it joyfully. He was capable and Joanne was surprised by his instinctive handling of the beddings.

Except for one thing which he could not figure out—the purpose of decorative pillows.

To Jim's credit, he did not let the shortcoming get in his way, and every day he would imaginatively and creatively use those pillows.

Joanne began documenting her husband's creative pursuits and his daily arrangements of pillows on Facebook. Their friends praised him for his efforts and the series was a huge hit.

In the first part of the series, Joanne captioned, "After 45 years, Jim is in charge of making the bed every morning. I do not think he knows what to do with the extra pillows."

Joanne talked to Bored Panda about how this daily ritual came about and how Jim is acing every bit of it. She shared, "Jim was put in charge of making the bed because I have always taken care of everything in the house while he was working. Now that we are retired, it is time for him to pull his own weight around here."

At first, Jim showed interest in only making his side of the bed, but Joanne quickly told Jim his duty involved managing the whole bed. "He did and started playing with the pillow arrangements to make me laugh," she explained about how the chore turned creative. "I hope it lasts for a while, but I do not know how creative he can get."

Jim experimented with a couple of different placements. To begin with, he tried the traditional stacking of pillows in the middle of the bed. He also hid Joanne's fancy pillow behind to attain the traditional look.

Jim surprisingly managed to come up with new designs every day. People on Facebook were amused and delighted with his experiments.

One Facebook user, Eileen Guptill, commented, "Love it! Jim sure knows how to keep us laughing in the morning." Another Facebook friend, Matt Diane Peters, wrote, "I am looking forward to these each day."

However, Jim experienced a creative block one day and declared an off from his daily duty. Joanne shared the photograph that said, "He said he was on strike today."

After a day off, Jim was back with a bang and showcased new artistic skills in the bed-making department.

The posts received such an overwhelming response that Joanne was in for a happy surprise. She said, "I can’t believe people are so amused by this!"

She added. "We try to make our relationship last by making each other laugh. I’m so glad people have been able to relate during this difficult time."
