Barbie, the upcoming directorial venture of Greta Gerwig has been making a buzz since its announcement. The internet went into a frenzy when the cast for the comedy film was revealed. And now with the release of the film's latest trailer and official character posters, netizens have once grabbed the opportunity to churn out memes about the film’s cast. This time, their target is actor Ryan Gosling with his dyed platinum blonde hair.

There is no doubt that Gosling is one of the most good-looking men in Hollywood but not many people are convinced by his appearance in Barbie. The 42-year-old actor plays the character of Barbie doll’s companion, Ken doll but somehow the overall character design of Ken has the internet convinced that he is looking like talk show host, Ellen DeGeneres.

Even though we are convinced that the hair and makeup team working for the film didn’t exactly plan to make Gosling resemble DeGeneres but the blonde hairstyle is definitely saying otherwise. What was supposed to be a recipe for greatness with Gosling portraying the picture-perfect Ken doll seems to have failed. Netizens are confused about his look and some even feel he is "too old for this role."

According to LADbible, responses to Gosling’s Ken were pretty positive when the first glimpse of the movie was leaked on the internet. In the picture, Gosling was spotted with co-star Margot Robbie who plays the titular Barbie. The duo was going around the street on rollerblades while filming. But no one in their wildest dream could have drawn the bizarre comparison between the blond-and-tanned Gosling and the 65-year-old chat show host. But thanks to the teasers released by Warner Bros., the audience got a crystal clear glimpse of the brand new Ken doll in live-action.

People shared side-by-side pictures of the actor and the chat show host and joked that "he looks like Ellen DeGeneres is cosplaying Ryan Gosling as Ken." Some even went as far as to wish for an Ellen DeGeneres biopic where Gosling can essay her role. The latest teaser which has caused an internet uproar introduces viewers to Barbie Land where Gosling can be seen flashing his chiseled abs in matching shirts and shorts co-ords. Despite the negative criticism and trolls, viewers are excited to see what’s in store for them and what Gosling’s character can deliver to make the audience laugh.

The second teaser for Barbie was released recently and it also has an ensemble cast of famous faces like Simu Liu, Emma Mackey, Helen Mirren, John Cena and Will Ferrell. The film is all set to hit theaters on July 21, 2023.
