Maryland High School Gets Prank-Listed on Real Estate Trading Site | “Nice Half-Working Jail Is on Sale for a Steal”
Pranks in school can always add up to your list of memorable experiences. But some fellow from a high school in Maryland listed their school on Zillow for an astoundingly low price as part of a senior prank. Zillow happens to be an online real estate marketplace where Meade Senior High School was up for a fake sale, and the property was listed for just $42,069 on May 23, 2023, according to metadata collected by Wayback Machine, a nonprofit internet archive.
According to Fox News, a spokesperson for Anne Arundel County Public Schools (the school district that oversees Meade Senior High School), Bob Mosier confirmed that the Meade Senior High School is indeed not up for sale. "This is incredibly creative advertising but we are stunned that the listers so vastly underestimated the value of this prime real estate with amazing amenities," Mosier told a local news station on May 24, per the outlet. The area of the high school that went up for the fake sale, measures 12,458 square feet in total area.
The property includes 20 bedrooms, 15 full bathrooms, a spacious kitchen and dining room, an unfinished basement, 100 parking spots, a private basketball court, a private multi-use turf field and a private study, according to the fake listing on Zillow. The prankster who put up the ad also claimed in the listing that the school was put on sale by "the owner" and even included a phone number on the site which redirected callers to the main line of Meade Senior High School.
"This nice half-working jail is on sale for a steal!!! All 15 bathrooms come with sewage issues!!" the unknown prankster wrote on the cheeky advertisement. "The school also comes with dangerous unfinished sections that could cost you your life!!! Your neighbors are rodents and insects that will make you squeal!! (In fear)," the fake listing went on. "The school comes with complementary trash-scented air freshener and water issues."
As of now, the fake sale advertisement has been removed from Zillow and locals firmly believe that it was posted as a senior prank, but there is no concrete proof yet. Senior pranks have become a tradition in many graduating classes of high schools where the senior class organizes a practical joke at the end of their academic year. Some high schools around the world have also banned these pranks to prevent property damage and potential criminal acts. Meade Senior High School's class of 2023 is all set to graduate on June 8, 2023, as mentioned by the school's website hence, it's highly possible that someone from among the senior students has decided to prank the school authorities with the fake listing. Well, thankfully, the Meade Senior High School wasn't sold off to some unsuspecting fellow over a prank.
