Here's a tale that can be titled—The Epic Birthday Blunder. A person who recently celebrated their birthday was reportedly left upset after their family forgot to invite them to their own surprise party. According to Mirror, their parents simply "forgot" to invite them to the party and ended up throwing what was just a regular party. The person's friends assumed that they would turn up at the party once their shift got over at 6 pm, but everybody was left confused by their prolonged absence.

The individual didn't return until 10:30 pm but by then, the cake was already cut. The person took to Reddit to express his disappointment. They wrote, "For my big turning adult, my N-Parents went on holiday and returned with a gift that was a wrapper because they liked the gift so much they had it." OP continued, "My gift was a wrapper!!! I was disgusted and let them know. I joked about it to others so the shame made them decide to have a do-over. They arranged a birthday party for me. They decorated the house, cooked a feast of food, had a BBQ, and even decorated the garden. It was amazing!! They just forgot to invite me to it." Eek!

OP rued that their parents ended up having the birthday party with their friends. "I had to work that evening and after, I went to a bar. I was too tired to go out dancing so went home, only to find that there was a full-blown party of my friends in my garden and house for my birthday, without me. They had even cut the birthday cake." Yes, the gala party turned out to be an exclusive soiree for their friends while they were slaving away at work!

The OP reassured everyone on Reddit that they were okay to laugh at what they agreed was a "f**king ridiculous situation." u/squintysounds commented on the post, "As someone whose mother had a fake wedding 'for me' the night before my real wedding (and I was not invited)…I feel your pain. She didn't pay for my wedding but her fake wedding reportedly had an ice sculpture and fire dancers. She even wore white."

Some people on Reddit like u/Excellency-Shinigami seemed to be against surprise parties as their comment read, "I straight up heard about a case where a guy's birthday was coming up. He had severe anxiety. He told his workers, 'DO NOT throw me a surprise party.' They did anyway. He had a panic attack. They tried to give him disciplinary action over it. He sued the shit outta them. Honestly, f**k surprise parties." Folks, remember to mark your calendars, set reminders and tie strings around your fingers because in a world where forgetfulness has become an Olympic sport even your own birthday party can fall prey to this monster called memory lapse.
