Tom Cruise is famed for being one of the last few daredevil actors in Hollywood who is never afraid to take risks for the sake of our entertainment. The Top Gun actor gained widespread fame in the mid-80s and ever since then, he has had a steady career in the film industry. As someone who is known to take creative control of all the projects he has been lately involved in, we can always expect Cruise to surprise his fans by pulling any stunt to his liking and do it anytime he wants. According to PEOPLE, in his latest MTV Awards speech, Tom Cruise climbed astonishing new heights. The actor earned the award for best performance in a movie for last year's blockbuster sequel Top Gun: Maverick at the 2023 MTV Movie & TV Awards on May 7, 2023.

Cruise was spotted wearing sunglasses and speaking over a headset while flying a fighter plane and thanking fans for the honor. He took his golden popcorn trophy aboard the plane with him. "Thank you so much for this award," he said. "I make these films for you. I love you. I love entertaining you. To know how much you enjoy it, how much you appreciate it, there's just no better feeling." Well, we can say for sure that he isn't lying about making films for his loyal audiences and going to great lengths for impressing the audience and critics alike.

"You have a wonderful summer. Thank you again for letting me entertain you. It's an absolute privilege. We'll see you at the movies," Cruise then added while delivering his acceptance speech as he promised to meet his fans in his upcoming film Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One. To earn the popcorn bucket-shaped award, Cruise beat other nominees in the category like Austin Butler (Elvis), Florence Pugh (Don't Worry Darling), Keke Palmer (Nope) and Michael B. Jordan (Creed III).

The MTV Awards faced a few hurdles at the last minute as they switched from the previously planned live format after host Drew Barrymore backed out of the gig on May 4, 2023 in solidarity with the ongoing Hollywood writer's strike. Barrymore still appeared in pre-filmed skits during the ceremony and agreed to return for the hosting duties in 2024. As for Cruise, this was certainly not the first time that he made a smashing entry at an event.

In 2022, the actor took talk show host James Corden on a terrifying flight in a fighter jet to give Corden a feel of being inside the cockpit, per PEOPLE. "I'm very excited that James is doing this," Cruise said, before dragging Corden to the jet. "Was he the first late-night show that I asked? Hell no. He was just the first one, the only one, to say yes." Not all of us can possibly be as multitalented as Cruise but we can definitely go watch Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One which is set to hit theaters worldwide on 12 July 2023.
