Tom Cruise Reportedly Demands High-Quality Thongs to Help Pull Off His Daring Stunts

Over the years, Tom Cruise has established himself as a force to be reckoned with in Hollywood. The 60-year-old actor is also considered to be one of the last superstars of the Western film industry. He is not only a brilliant actor and Oscar nominee but he is also passionate about the old-school art of filmmaking. In the era of CGI-dominated big-budget blockbusters, Cruise is one of the few actors who choose to perform his own practical stunts. And those stunts make up to be the highlight of his movies lately. Whether it is hanging off the body of a plane in flight or scaling Burj Khalifa, Cruise can possibly beat actors half his age when it comes to executing daring stunts.
The actor is also famed in the industry for peculiar things, such as his troubled love life and his set of Scientology-influenced beliefs. One other peculiar detail about Tom Cruise has everyone in splits. According to Daily Star, the high-profile actor apparently has to rely on a skimpy piece of underwear to execute his stunts flawlessly.

The suave star apparently chooses to wear thongs as it gives him the comfort and flexibility needed to perform stunt sequences. As per industry insiders, the actor had once demanded G-strings made from soft, stretchy material so it can allow him to feel unrestricted when performing stunts and action sequences.

"There aren’t many movies where you don’t see Tom rolling around on the ground or doing a backflip off the side of a skyscraper. Over the years it’s taken its toll and he had his wardrobe department rustle him up a comfy thong," a source had revealed, per the outlet. Now, people might not feel comfortable conjuring the mental image of Cruise in a thong but if it helps him pull off those daredevil stunts, then who are we to complain?

However, those trustworthy thongs might not have kept Cruise safe all over. According to The Independent, Cruise sustained a broken ankle during a botched stunt scene while filming Mission Impossible: Fallout which led the crew to halt the filming process. He appeared on The Graham Norton Show during the promotion of the film and even reacted to that exact moment captured in a behind-the-scene-footage when he injured his ankle.

Broken bones didn't stop the dedicated actor from performing possibly the most dangerous stunt of his life on screen. In the final installment of the Mission Impossible franchise, Cruise will be seen driving a motorcycle off of a cliff and then deploying a parachute. "This is far and away the most dangerous thing we’ve ever attempted," said the 60-year-old actor said, per New York Post "We’re going to shoot it in Norway and it will be a motorcycle jump off a cliff into a base jump."
