Taco Bell Potato Menu Items Are Returning From The Cold Valley Of Death

by Gorman

NEW YORK, NY — Taco bell is a very special fast food restaurant. On the surface it appears to be Mexican food… but that isn’t really what it is. Taco Bell is its own tweaked out, extra terrestrial version of Mexican food. They care about the customer, which is why they create these amazing monstrosities.

Unfortunately, sometimes they fuck up. According to CNN Business, “last year, Taco Bell cut a number of items from its menu, including two dishes that featured its seasoned potato bites: Cheesy Fiesta Potatoes and the Spicy Potato Soft Taco.” The reaction to this would be immediate and momentous. The public were…displeased. But after months of want, the menu items are officially returning. It’s a beautiful day, indeed.

The potato items were a long held standby for vegetarian Taco Bell lovers (one of the few fast food restaurants that caters to their tastes). However, you didn’t have to be a vegetarian to feel the sting of the unceremonious execution (of menu items). Potatoes rule. They’re actually one of the only things we can all as a species get behind. That’s pretty goddamn poetic.

Et tu, Taco Bell?

So why would TB do such a thing to their loyal subjects? According to the article on CNN Business “after the pandemic-related shutdowns in March, Taco Bell found itself having to direct all customer traffic to its off-premise channels, including the drive thru. In order to alleviate the pressure on its operations and help get customers through the drive-thru quickly, it made some menu cuts.”

According to Liz Matthews, chief food innovation officer for Taco Bell, the move was necessary, but lamentable. Sometimes you gotta make tough choices for the greater good. I guess no one knows that better than the Bell, and their loyal fans..and there are a lot of intense fans. Just check out this Conan segment.

Bell-heads won’t have to suffer much longer. If you love the Cheesy Fiesta Potatoes and/or the Spicy Potato Soft Taco your prayers have been answered. The beloved menu items will be returning on March 11th. Mark your calendars, folks! It’s not very often something you love so much comes back from the dead.
