Tanya Roberts, who was announced dead on Sunday night before her reps revealed on Monday morning that she was actually still alive, has passed away at age 65, per TMZ.
Her partner, Lance O’Brien, received a call from the hospital just after 9 p.m. Monday night. It was then that he learned the heartbreaking news.
The tragedy comes at the end of a bizarre, gut-wrenching turn of events. After word had gotten out that Tanya Roberts passed away over the weekend and the internet began grieving, TMZ reported that she was actually still alive and receiving care in the ICU at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles.
The hope wouldn’t last, though. By Tuesday afternoon, the ‘That 70s Show’ star’s reps confirmed that in the time since the correction, she had passed.
Damn. To think that for a short time, there was hope that the incredibly gifted actor who played Midge Pincioitti — “Hot” Donna’s beautiful mother who Fez was especially attracted to and often vocalized his desire to have sex with — was gonna land on her feet is just heartbreaking.
Say it ain’t so.
Tanya Roberts was born on October 15th, 1955 as Victoria Leigh Blum in New York City, and took on her role of Midge Pincioitti in 1998. She’d go on to play Eric Forman’s next-door neighbor — a gorgeous, charming woman with whom Kelso, Hyde, and especially Fez often dreamed about having sex – for a total of 178 episodes before the show’s end in 2004.
To film and television fans alike, Roberts was known for the unique impact she had on Fez and the dudes whenever she entered frame. No matter if the guys were shooting hoops in the Forman driveway or eating at Kitty’s dinner table, whenever Tanya Roberts entered the scene, someone mentioned how much they’d like to have sex with her.
Just brutal. Here’s to hoping that Tanya Roberts isn’t remembered for the PR mishaps over the last few days, but rather is celebrated for the way she sexually enchanted Fez, Eric, and the rest of the boys in Red’s basement.
